With projection televisions, and specfically Sony Projection TVs, occassionaly convergence will get out of alignment on the televisions setscausing blurriness or pictures to be outlined with blue, red, or greencoloring. Convergence is the focusing of three images into a single image. If you are having an issue with convergence on your Sony Projection TV, then this would most visible around white lines on the screen that can have a colored halo effect around them.
Thisguide will show you how to fix a convergence issue automatically usingSony's built-in Flash Focus (or FlashFocus) feature which willautomaticaly diagnose, test, and adjust the convergence for yourprojection TV red, blue, and green bulbs.
Asmentioned earlier, the projection tube image appears on the screen inthree colors (red, green and blue). If they do not converge or focuses, the color is poor and the picture blurs.
Before you use your projection TV, be sure to adjust the convergence.
The FLASH FOCUS feature allows you to adjust the convergence automatically. Here is how you use it.
1. Turn on your TV and receive a signal or program for 30 minutes.
2. Press Flash Focus
Thecross pattern shown below appears and FLASH FOCUS begins to work. Theadjustment is completed when the cross pattern becomes white and youare returned to the program you were watching.
As mentionedbefore, it is recommended to perform FLASH FOCUS about 30 minutes afterthe projection TV is first turned on. Additionally, you cannot performany other functions until FLASH FOCUS has completed the cycle. Also ofimportance, if you perform any other operation while FLASH FOCUS is inprogress, FLASH FOCUS operation is canceled.
Finally, on animportant note - unshielded speakers or other metallic objects cancause picture distortion if placed close to the projection TV and maydramatically impact the quality of your Sony Projection TV picture.
