Be careful using a vacuum creates A LOT of static which can cause an ESD which will fry your motherboard.

Just be careful if you follow this method.

What's with the yellow ratings? We both provided valuable and helpful information. I'd rather have no rating then a yellow and I'm sure DJGray would too.

    Were these answers inadequate?

Not sure about this specific model, but my laptop has cooling fins in two places by the outer edge which are "fed" by a copper thermal tube that is clamped to the top of the CPU and GPU. These fins become clogged with dust. I don't want to blow that dust INTO the laptop, so I use a very high power vacuum to **** the contaminants out of the casing.

Agreed on the rating. Earlier today, I gave a woman the exact answer she was looking for, and she bombed me with a yellow... Makes you kind of not want to help out.

You're right about the static. I'm always real careful with this, but the vents on my laptop get completely clogged about once a year.

Thanks for having my back on the rating bomb.

SOURCE: I want audio output drivers

First of all, let me tell you that the DV1000 series Notebooks are divided into two types..

One type is shipped with Conexant AC-Link Audio card and the other models are shipped with Conexant High Definition Audio card.

So, if your Notebook is shipped with AC-Link audio card, you will not be able to install the High Definit audio drivers and vice versa.

So, first, try downloading and installing the Conexant AC-Link Audio card Drivers for your Notebook from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32272.exe

Save the file on the Desktop or My Documents folder and double click once the download is completed to installs the drivers.

However, if you are unable to install the above Drivers, we can come to a conclusion that the Notebook is installed with High Definition Audio and to install this drivers, we need to install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) drivers before installing the Audio Drivers.

Download the Microsoft UAA Drivers for your Notebook from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Save the file on the Desktop or My Documents folder and double click once the download is completed to installs the drivers.

Once the download and installation is completed, restart the Notebook and now, you can download and install the Conexant High Definition Audio drivers from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32864.exe

Restart the Notebook and you should be able to use the notebook normally.

Hope this helps...

Try checking the fan, if you see dusts clear them out. If you have a USB fan, its highly recommend you use it. My Answers maybe incorrect, because I do not use heated laptops or PC Desktops.

You have to look for a bad connection on MB. You have a broken trace from openning and closing. You need micro-soldering iron to fix it.

Requesting hp pavilion dv1000 audio drivers

I have had this problem for a while, and I solved it by learning exactly how to search the HP driver listings correctly. The issue stems from the fact that searching for "HP Pavilion dv1000" is not as specific as you might think...

Step one:
Go Here
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&dest_page=product&docname=c00033108&product=18073
Find the *EXACT* model number of your laptop. For instance, it turns out my "HP Pavilion dv1000" is actually a "dv1657cl." Alternately, you can take down the Product Number (or p/n).

Step two:
Go Here
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
I am sure we are all familiar with this page, but you will find that it is a little more helpful now that we are armed with the knowledge that it requires. Search on this page with your model number or p/n and you should find the correct drivers (for audio as well as other devices) easily.

For example, I finally found this page for my "dv1657cl."
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=2511500

Good luck, everyone!

Re:My laptop turns on and then it turns right off!!!...

dv1000's have a known issue with the heat sink fan. the ball bearing in the fan (which is what allows the blades on the fan to spin) will "pop" out making it so the fan is not able to spin.

good news is its incredibly easy to fix. unfortunetly to get to it you will need to completely disassemble the computer to get to the heat sink fan.

once youre there all you need to do is squeeze the middle of the fan from both sides. you should hear or feel a little pop or click.

reassemble and enjoy.
