Most standard ADSL modems have four/five lights in the front :
Power light to indicate electric power to the modem.
ADSL light indicates the status of ADSL sync. When the modem is synchronized with the ADSL line card at the other end of the circuit/loop, the DSL light will be steady green.
LAN light will glow steady green when the modem detects a successful link to a computer or router ethernet port.
ACT i.c. Activity light glows when the modem is sending and/or receiving data on the lan and wan. It will vary between very slow to fast flashing and steady green to indicate lan/wan traffic.

hi
I am techbuddies from fixya .i would like to give a try on your issue.
first of all shut down your modem and your computer then unplugged cables that goes from modem to your computer once it is done then wait for 30-50 sec and then replugge all your calbe and then first turn on your modem and then your computer .This kind of method is called as power cycle of modem.
Once you have done that then check that wether is works or not if not then try to check that is their any kind of red X on your computer on right hand side bottom ,if yes then on run type devmgmt.msc then click OK and the you would be able to log in to device manager .Once the device manager is open look for network adapter click on the plus sign and then under lan right click and click on to enable it .
check wether your internet is working or not .

Also check what is the ip address if comming on your computer .
Inoder to reset your modem .check is their any small hoel in rare-end of the modem if yes please insert a smal pin in to it and press it untill all light flash on and off .

if still the problem comes get back to me on fixya

Hello, the 4 LAN ports on my D-Link router, model DIR-615, don't seem to be working. The lights are not coming on. This is the 1st time I'm trying to use those LAN ports so that I can connect my new...

It probably is your router that is the problem.
Disconnect its AC power, and reconnect it, to "reset" the router.

Also, try connecting your Blu-Ray player directly to your cable-modem (or DSL-modem), bypassing your router. Turn the modem off, and then turn on, and then turn your Blu-Ray player on, and it should be able to connect to the Internet (and NetFlix).

Try a different router.

Modem light is blank on motorola wr850g, how do i fix?

If the modem light is not turning ON,
1) check if the modem is ON
2) check if the ethernet connection is properly made
3) check if the port on the modem is working, confirm it by connecting it straight to the computer.
4) check if the ethernet cable is working fine.
5) Then try power cycling the router. Unplug the power cable and connect in back after 20-30 secs.
6) Then try pressing and holding the reset for 20 secs.
7) Finally connect a single ethernet cable from any LAN port to WAN port and check if the modem light is ON.
Ultimately, if even after this step, if the light doesn't turn up, either the modem LED would have gone bad or the WAN part of the router would have gone bad.

For further clarifications, revert!
Thanks for asking,

How do you hook up a dlink router to a telus modem, the WLAN connection won't work.

Hello,

Newer telus modems tend to be wireless.
If your telus modem is wireless, then you want to forget the DIR-625 all together and simply connect your computers to the telus modem.

If you have a standard telus modem, you will want to connect a LAN cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router and then connect your devices to the router.

Please come back and vote or leave some feedback, it will let me know whether it helped so I can improve and it will encourage me to keep on helping.

Thanks,

Pat

Our modem will not connect to the router, the lan activity light will not shine... unless we connect through to modem. Our modem is Comtrend ADSL PPPOE.

You have to chage the router ip address other than the modem ip. The modem is 192.168.1.1 change your router to 192.168.9.1

Configure Modem Echolife HG520s With WRT54G OR WRE54G

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port

your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port

Hello, Good question..Phone line to DSL modem, Ethernet cable to WAN port on Router. If connecting a PC wired to Router, connect Ethernet cable from 1 of 4 LAN ports on Back of router to ethernet port on PC. This would be Physical connection...
It's always smart to set a restore point in case something goes wrong during installation of any program. For wireless connection from laptop or PC: install router software on computer. Reboot computer. In browser address bar enter 192.168.1.1. This brings up a window for user name and password. Enter "admin" for both. This allows you to change many settings including Changing SSID(Router Name), User name and password. Enabling WEP or WPA security. Hope this Helps, Good Luck..!!
