Try with another cable.
This happened to me once- just replaced the cable and it worked.

Have you tried to reinstall your Network drivers?

Get them here.

If that doesn't work and the port is bad (it happens)

buy a new pci network card and install in the machine, fairly inexpensive solution.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue.

Thank you.

You have to have some sort of a modem to get online whether your using a smartphone through a usb or broadband modem through your rj-45 jack, Broadband modems also have the capability of using a usb cable to connect to the modem. Hope this helps. Not sure exactly what your asking. If I havent answered your question feel free to let me know!!!

    There is not Ethernet controller

There is Integrated Marvell 88E8056 Gigabit (RJ-45 LAN connector) present in your motherboard of Aspire T180.

What I could reacon from your question is that your Ethernet Driver is not installed. If you have the support CD then you can install it from there else you could download the driver fron the following site
    by selecting your desktop model.

Is the ethernet card on dimension 3000 dell alone or part of the motherboard

    Hi,

Since around 1998 all motherboards come with the LAN (network/ethernet) on board.
The port will be at the back of the Dell next to the USB ports, you can't miss it.

    Regards.

How to replace ethernet port in gateway gt5404

If your motherboard's ethernet (RJ-45) port is the only problem, you have two options. For a workaround, use a spare PCI or PCI-Express slot and add a network card. Assuming their is nothing wrong further down the line than the port itself, that should get you back on the web / home network.

If however, you do not have a (spare) slot to add a network card, the only alternative is repair. Most manufacturers are good about helping customers with repairs, though of course, at a cost. Even worse with RMAs is the shipping cost, which is often completely billed to you, both ways. For this reason, motherboards are usually cheaper to replace than repair.

Desoldering the RJ-45/USB module from your motherboard may seem like a simple task, but the average joe with a soldering kit simply doesn't have the ability to do this sort of repair without further causing further damage to the board. Leave the repairs to the professionals. If you are trained to do this sort of work, you shouldn't need any advice about how its done.
