Question about Compaq CPQ20KVM 2-port KVM Switch

1 Answer

Move ("W" key on keyboard) stops in Call of Duty 2 game

After installing Compaq CPQ20KVM switch, when I play "Call of Duty 2" PC Game, the move forward key (W Key on Keyboard) stops after moving forward for about 5 seconds. I have to release the key and then repress to move forward but it stops again.

Running Compaq Intel duo core Laptop and an Athlon 64 Dual Core Desktop, both running Windows XP Pro.

I do not have this problem when I remove KVM switch.

Thanks

MJB

Make printing larger?

If you have a Windows, here's what you do:
Click, "Start"
Scroll to "Control Panel" and click,
Scroll to "Display" and click,
Click on the "Appearance" tab.
Look for "Fonts" at the bottom of page then click the pull-down arrow, which should be set to "Normal",
Choose (by clicking) a larger font and then click, "Apply" and "Ok"

I hope this helps!

2-port KVM switch mouse & keyboard connected to wrong display

I have installed several of these KVM switches before... that's not normal. It sounds like there's a manufacturer's defect which is causing the video to link up with the wrong keyboard/mouse cables. If you just bought it, I'd recommend returning it and getting a replacement.

Have you tried tapping the Scroll Lock key twice and then 1 or 2 for each PC?

All Keys do not work on keyboard with KVM switch

GCS632U is designed to work with standard USB keyboard an mouse only. You have to make sure that you are not using any type of adapter such as PS/2 to USB adapter. To further isolate the problem, please follow the steps below:

1. Connect the USB keybord directly to th computer to make sure that the keyboard is working properly.

2. Make sure that the keyboard is connected to the keyboard port on your KVM switch. You may take a look under neath this GCS632U (near the USB ports) and you will see an icon where to connect the keyboar and mouse.

3. If you're still gettings the same problem, Try power cycling this kvm switch by disconnecting if from the computers and disconnect also the keyboard and mouse from the KVM switch and leave them disconnected for a minute or two.

4. Reconnect everything after two minutes and then reboot the two computers.

5. If same problem exist, try using different USB keyboard.

NOTE: This KVM swith does not work correctly with wireless, gaming and smart keyboards because it's designed to work with standrd USB keyboard only.

In AutoScan mode, the switch remains on one port for 10 seconds before switching to the next. This time interval cannot be changed. To exit autoscan mode press [Spacebar].

When in AutoScan mode, no mouse or keyboard controls. If the user moves the mouse or uses the keyboard while switching the connection between computer and the switch might be interrupted and cause erratic mouse movement and errant display when using the keyboard.

Maximum resolution supported is 2048 x 1536 @ 75Hz.

If mouse movement is erratic:
make sure you do not have more than one mosue driver installed. Make sure that the driver is either for a standar PS/2 mouse or a Microsoft compatible PS/2 mouse. Make sure you do not have any mouse drivers loaded in your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Avoid moving the mouse or pressing the mouse button when switching ports on the switch. You can reset the mouse and resume porper mouse movement simply by unplugging the mouse from the switch and allowing 2-3 seconds before plugging it back in.

Hotkey mode

This just worked for me. Using your PC keyboard, boot up to the PC first and then power up your mac. Hit the scroll lock twice and IMMEDIATELY hit enter. You have to go fast- click-click-click with no hesitation and it works great. I still can't toggle the hot keys to set up my mac keyboard, which I prefer using, but I'm assuming it takes the "right" timing on the keys. I'll keep trying.

Good luck!
