Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Blackberry Pearl not getting GPRS

I have a BB Pearl from Vodafone UK, but I'm on assigment in Australia till mid-May. Last Saturday it stopped getting GPRS only gprs and I'm not able to send or receiving emails.

This happened to my last Pearl last November and had to be replaced. I've tried switching off & on signal via Manage Connections, manually changing network, removing battery and restarting, removing battery and SIM card and restarting. Nothing works. Vodafone UK not helping as I'm in Australia.

Any suggestions? Could SIM card be corrupt?

Thanks

Dont believe it's a service problem - this has been for 6 days now. Can't get GPRS from Vodafone, Telstra or Opus, the 3 Australian providers. I have also been travelling around so it's not a local cell problem. I think the problem's in the phone itself.

Well for 1 your in a diff region. The cell phone may not like what it's service area. Try flashing your phone from the cell phones providers website. Good luck. And yes, you can manually flash your phone.

Hi,
This could be caused by a number of things but check that you have a GPRS signal on your device.  When you switch your Blackberry on you may have noticed that it goes through a number of stages as follows - SOS, GSM, gprs and finally GPRS.  If your device is not getting to the GPRS stage then this is the problem and you will need to call help desk.  If your device has a little aerial symbol with the word OFF next to it then this means that wireless functionality is switched off.  To switch it back on, select the 'turn wireless on' icon from the main screen.  If you're still having problems, Contact Black berry So they update the Phone Software.

Hope This Helps!!!  Please Don't Forget to Rate my Response!!! Thanks!!!

Go to Connections, Mobile data services, make sure Data service is ON. Make sure your Mobile network shows your provider.
Then scroll to services status make sure you are connected.
If all is in order
1) Pull the battery while the device is ON, replace after a minute, Let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is fixed,

2) If not resolved go to Mobile Network options, menu key,  diagnostics test, and contact your IT personnel.

Sim card may be corrupt. The only test is to try it in another KNOWN working phone.
Last option would be to make sure the bill was paid.

Blackberry, or crackberrys, seem to have some sort of flaw where they constantly keep breaking. I have many a friends who had many blackberrys and -always- is there something that goes wrong with it, for ex no GPS, multiple sms being sent, blank screen, freezing...

I would suggest complaining to your phone company and seeing if they can replace it with a new one under warranty if the problem persists.
