Question about Washing Machines

5 Answers

Our ASKO model 20605 front-load washer is getting a consitent blinking 'F3'. I checked the needle trap and it had quite a few coins in it. When the washer tries to pump out water there is a clattering sound coming from the bottom right on the front of the machine. If I hold onto the needle trap plug handle, I can feel the clattering vibration right there. Can you give me any idea what could be fouled up and perhaps what to replace? Thanks, Phil Knox.

Already did that, no luck. Still makes clattering sound. Is the pump damaged or just worn out possibly?

Is the water pump easy to reach and check for foriegn objects?

Hi!

Have you checked the drain pump filter. There would be some dirt, debris and maybe some coins stuck inside it. Try and remove it. It would be like a white plug attached above the drain pump assembly

You can access the drain pump by removing the back panel and you will be able to see pump on the inner side of the hose, when you remove it check for some obstruction. Also check out for drain pump filter, the filter is behind the little door at the bottom of the front on the machine.

    Please ask for further clarifications.

    Thanks

It sounds to me like you have a foreign object in the water pump.  You can take it out yourself and clean it.  Hope it helps.

F3 error is more technical and you will need a service engineer for this.

but you may also try to > Check
that the outlet pipe is not blocked, or that the pump vanes are not
jammed by a button or other foreign object. Most machines have a screw
off cover that enables you to check this.

    Hi there,

You need to access to the drain pump, undo the drain hose and remove the objects trap in there.

Be prepared to collect the water when you remove the hose from drain pump.

open the little door at the bottom or remove the toe panel... then there is a coin trap... that will let you remove the water there is a black hose with a plug on the end remove plug and drain the water...by turning it and pulling it you can remove the coin trap and you my be able to remove somthing stuck in it... also there is a red string you can pull it and release the door

My Asko 6461 washing machine - F3 code

F3 problem, I had the issue on model W6461, however, judging by the amount of F3 issues posted this could work on other ASKO models If the coin trap in the drain is clear of debris, try this. Stages as follows:
1) Open drain pump door (bottom left of machine).
2) Remove black pipe and drain residual water.
3) Unscrew coin trap and remove, use a container to hold the water.
4) Leave the container underneath and make sure you have some towels ready (I didn't at the time)
5) Where the washing machine drain hose connects to the outlet in the wall or U bend connector remove this and expose the end.
6) Blow into the drain hose as hard as possible......hopefully the blockage will clear back through the coin trap.
7) Pour some water into the open end and blow this back through the drain as well.

Result:
A large lump of sludge, three of my 5 year olds small counter coins and about a litre of water (all over the floor, don't forget the towels!)

Just ran the machine now and fault cleared.

Good luck

F6 CODE

F6 on an asko washer means a fault was detected with the motor. What this means 99% of the time is the brushes in the motor are worn. As long as the armature isn't damaged, (visual inspection while turning motor shaft should identify damage) you'll be fine replacing the brushes.

part # 764414, 2 required, about $40US each (better than $400US plus for a motor).

hope that helps

good luck

Unplug the machine. Remove the filter, take a flashlight and get your head down to check if something has fallen deeper in filter and pump housing which block the pump turbine. Also, make sure to check if the outlet hose isn't clogged or jammed with something too.
