Nobody is going to know that here or anywhere else. There are dozens of chips and usually multiple motherboards that are used for the same series of laptops. You'll have to either take a hi-resolution picture or take a look at the chip yourself with a magnifying glass.

How do i make my acer travelmate 290e wlan work after reinstalling win 7

It seems you have not install the driver for the WLAN, I'll suggest you to download the proper driver for your Network connection from the official Accer website and install it. I hope after installing it'll work for you back.

My laptop has no signs of power. I was told a small chip on the mother board has burned out. Something to do with the power.

Sorry, but he's probably correct. You need to replace the whole motherboard.

You will never be able to find the chip to replace, let alone find someone qualified to correctly remove the bad chip and then replace it with a good one.

The laptop is dead. No lights no nothing. The ac adapter is good. Another one was tried to eliminate the possiblity of a bad ac source. We just laid it aside one day while it was turned on and when we...

its unfortunate, - i left my Dell plugged into AC outlet (without UPS protection) -- unclean power trckling in (120VAC varies within -10 to +10 volts at 2-6 Amp increase : not good for computer .. especially when you are dealing with 5-7 volt supply on the mainboard --- i had to replace my mainboard , cost me over three hundred fifty dollars, that's 5 years ago

now, i dont turn my computers on without Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS)

i think you may have to replace the mainboard if there is no life in it

Acer travelmate 8006lmi when turned on only the power light and dvd drive work nothing on the display and nothing if you connect an external monitor either

The graphic chip is dead. replace the motherboard or reflow the graphic chip. I am not fan of BGA reflow. The seldom last beyond 90days.

Good Luck

My DV9205 finaly stoped working after 2 years of strugle. It was booting only once a day, was getting very hot, display had lots of multicolor dots spred all over. Now she is dead.HP in Australia don't wana...

You need to look On the Recall/Extended Service List To See If Your dv9000 Series Is Listed... Go To The Link I Post Below,

Flip Your Laptop Over And Look For Your P/N......
then look on the list from the link I posted and see if Your P/N is listed in the DV9200/DV9300 Section... If it is there... You can send it to them for a free repair/motherboard replacement.... You will first have to contact them either by Live Chat or by Telephone and explain your Symptoms and that you found your model listed under the extended service list of recalled laptops....

If your laptop is Not Listed there... You Do not need to replace the motherboard, You can Reflow the Graphics Chip... You have a Faulty Nvidia Graphics CHip That has failed due to thermal damage...

THis involves complete disassembly of the laptop, removal of the motherboard... You'll need to shield all areas around the video chip.. Use Folded up tin foil... You'll also need to put weight on top of the Video Chip... Use a stack of 8 Quarters and Center them in a stack on the video chip... You will need a Heat Gun...(google it)... They cost about $15 US.... You will need to cover all plastic ports and connectors near the video chip... cover the CPU, cover the RAM slots...(use the foil)....
Turn on the heat gun, Set it to LOW... Hold about 6 inches from the chip and rotate clockwise in circles around the outer edge of the video chip, then concentrate the heat gun on the stack of quarters holding the heat gun about 3 inches from the quarters..Hold for 30 seconds, continue to rotate around the outer edge of the chip, slowly moving the heat gun closer, then pulling it away... (go no closer than 2 inches away from the chip... the whole process takes 3 minutes.... Do not overheat the chip... it's better to underheat it ans to have to re-do the reflow...

The goal is to Remelt the Solder Ball Contacts on the underside of the chip to re-make contact with the contact pads on the motherboard...

Make sure when you are done with this process that you thouroughly Clean the Heatsink anf Fan assembly!! Very Important!! You need to make sure no dust/debris are blocking the heat sink Cooling Fins... And that the fan blades are as well dust/debris free....
Reassemble entire laptop and Power on....

Fan for my acer 3690 spins, green light is on but no display show

Look to See If Your Hard Drive/Data Indicator Light is on and blinking (or solid)..
You need to try and hook up a desktop monitor to the laptops serial port.. Reboot with the External Screen Plugged Into The Laptop.. If You See Windows Booting From The External Monitor - Then You Have A Faulty Screen, or possibly a faulty Display Cable.. Most Likely The Screen Has Failed Though... Also, Hold The Screen Up To A Bright Light while its powered on, You Might have just lost the backlight and have a display still, It will be REAL faint but holding it up to a light and looking to see if you can see Windows Running..

If No Display on the External Monitor When Connected To The Laptop, Then You Have GPU/Graphics Failure, Due To Thermal Damage.. This Is A Motherboard Issue Because The Chips Are Integrated.. A ReBake/ReFlow Of The Chips Will Get Your Video Back, Or Replacing The Motherboard.....

Flashing bios

Unfortunately there aren't many options here. The Bios is corrupt so it cannot load a CD or a floppy disc. The normal options are;

Replace the motherboard. Although with a laptop, this is problably going to be costly.

Replace the Bios chip itself.

Send the bios chip to someone with the tools to flash the bios.

I'd contact Acer and see what they say about the whole thing first. If it is too costly then look at other options.

Keyboard.mouse,usb notworking

it sounds like there is a problem with the integration of software to bios "basic input output system" If the motherboard was replaced and then failed, odds are whatever caused the issue arose within the new motherboard they installed which was prolly a used one knowing Acer. I'd say try to over-ride the problem by 2 ways. 1 send it back to acer for another board, 2 purchase a usb keyboard and use a traditional mouse and when you upgrade, go dell.

For the guy who replaced the keyboard chip, that's useless, the basic input output system is what controls those functions,,,

Try looking for a bios update on the acer site.

The only other device that will cause this is the power management chip on the motherboard. Since you've replaced the battery and charger, that rules the simple fixes out. You will need to take it in for a professional diagnostic to see if it's a replaceable component that works in conjunction with the pm chip or the pm chip itself. The pm chip is integrated into the motherboard, so, if the pm chip has failed, you will have to replace the motherboard in order to fix the problem.
