Thanks for for reply. The problem is my TV is a Insignia mdl is-tv040926 which only has front and rear audio inputs no outputs. So as long as I was using the cable box the signal would input through the cable box output to the home theater system speakers. May be perfect excuse to buy that flatscreen lcd.

Make sure the jacks go from the output of the televison or movie player and go to input on theater receiver. Then check to make sure theater receiver is on the input setting/channel

OH bummer! A tv with no ouputs is really rare. I also have my cable box hooked up to my tv with rca jacks and NOT the coaxil cable. The yellow jack is for video and the red and white are for sound.
Check sound settings on cable box and home theatre system to make sure sound is set to: stereo, speakers on, and adjust any other sound options if necessary. Make sure home theatre is set on "input" or "AV" channel. If cables and settings are correct, you should have sound with picutre. Make sure you use good rca jacks as well.

Test sound with tv and then home theatre, if tv works, then it's your home theatre system and vise versa.

I want to upgrade to a 4k tv but my home theater does not support 4k. Can i run sound only thru it?

You can run the sound to the home theater system in many cases. It depends on the home theater system and the TV. If the home theater system has a digital audio input, it is easy to connect most 4K TVs. Connect the 4K source to the HDMI or Displayport connector on the TV. Check whether the digital audio uses an optical cable or a coaxial cable. Make sure that the TV has the matching output and get the correct cable. Set the TV to use external speakers (under the Audio part of the setup on most TVs) and turn off the internal speakers.

Very few 4K TVs have analog audio output. If your home theater system only has HDMI and analog (RCA red/white) audio inputs, you will need a digital to analog audio converter and both digital and analog audio cables. The converter will look like this: https://www.amazon.com/Gefen-Digital-Adapter-Converter-GTV-DIGAUD-2-AAUD/dp/B0013LWK3A .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the make and model of your home theater system if you need a more specific set of details about doing this.

Why doesn't the ARC TV sound work through the HDMI cable? Is it because the KDL-52XBR7 only has the Bravia Sync and no ARC support?

Not all Hdmi cables have same capabilities. Check out:

I only get sound thru home theater speaker not thru tv?

Check the wires from the source, are there audio hookup from source to tv or home theater to tv? you may need to run audio cables from source to home theater and to tv.

How do i hook up a rca Rtd325w dvd home theater to a coby tft lcd flatscreen

You can use either the multi pin connector cable, or plug the white, yellow and red cables to the TV set at the DVD player input or "Video 1" and the the audio output of the TV Another red and white set of RCA cables into the audio input of the home theater. This way the TV can play through the home theater system when you are watching cable or over the air.

If you do not want to hear the TV audio, you should go to the audio properties and select "external speaker system" but if you do this the home theater system must be on to hear any audio from the set until you set it back to the TV speakers through the TV's setup menus again.

My DAVHDX576WF surround system is connected to my TV by HDMI, but I hear no sound. The home theater test/setup is audible, radio is audible, but nothing from the TV

Which direction do you expect audio to be flowing: from or to the TV? The HDMI is an outbound connection for video. Page 71 describes how to enable the DVD AUDIO ONLY if you really want TV speakers to be competing with the DAV.

1. The easiest solution would be to connect a stereo RCA (red and white) cable to the audio output on the back of your TV.
2. Then connect the other end to the input on your home theater system.
3. Change the home theater system to the correct input.

Good luck!

Don't worry about sending the TV audio to the Panasonic. Just send a digital audio signal from the cable box to the Panasonic.

DVD - Panasonic connected via HDMI
TV - Panasonic connected via HDI
cable connected to cable box and TV. But you will not really be using the cable connection to the TV (TV Tuner) since you will want HD feed from cable box through HDMI input on TV.

You aren't concerned about feeding the TV speakers because your audio will always come from the home theatre.

Note that some components don't feed audio through HDMI, in which case you will need to use optical digital audio.
