IT is possible that the oil is coming from a failed gasket between the intake and the motor. First re-tension the bolts IF it still leaks remove and replace the gasket. It may be necessary to put sealer around bolts as they may go through to an area where there is oil splash.

  • Anonymous Apr 08, 2013

Hello, The bolts do not go through to the crankcase. When I take one of the intakes off the residue is around the seal indicating that it is gas residue. It is oily but the other thing is puzzling that an intake should have suction not pressure to push stuff out.

SOURCE: oil leak in a 98 plymouth breeze 2.0

I've had a 1990 Acclaim, a 1990 Shadow, and a 1998 Breeze, all have a head gasket leak. The Breeze was the only one to have oil leak and it was on the rear of the engine. I'd guess that's your problem.

SOURCE: 98 Subaru leaking oil

Oil leak will not change run temp but can cause a fire.
The smoke is the oil burning on the engine. The 1st thing you need to do is clean the oil off the engine.
Next top oil off to the full line on the dip stick. Now start the engine hold idle up to around 1600 rpm for 1 to 2 minutes keep engine run and look for the oil leak. Don't get caught in any moving parts and things will be hot so be careful. Most likely from your valve cover.

My 1999 Town n Country limited is dripping oil near front passanger tire.

more than likely you have a valve cover leak its common you will need to re move the cover
1 take out the bolts 6 i believe 7/16 socket remove the small bolts
2 pry the valve cover off
3 clean the old gaskets off the valve cover and motor
4 clean the valve cover and paint the valve cover light blue so you can see any leaks
that may happen // i dout if you will have any
5 put a small amount fo permatex (BLACK) it works well with oil and it will hold the gasket in place
once you put the gasket on the on the valve cover put a small amount on the bottom of the
gasget/// you will have permatex on both sides of the gasket
6 now you are ready to in stall tha valve cover back on the motor and put in all the bolts finger
tight once all the bolts are in you want to snug the bolts don't try to tighten the bolts to much
or you will cut the new gasket
7 now that every thing is back in check your oil level and run the engine for ten min this will set up
the new gasket and give the permatex a chance to cure

done deal

hope this helps you
good luck

Check engine light on my 01 windstar when scaned the codes were po171 and po174 bank 1 and bank 2 too lean

thats a lean code which mean there is a vaccum leak or fuel flow is low. can be the fuel filter, most likely it is a vaccum leak, spray with carb spray around the intake and the hoses and see if the idle changes

I have a 98 mitsubishi montero sport that has a small oil leak. i need to know how to fix it

It all depends where it is leaking. You may have a bad seal. If so, you will have to take off the block to get to your valves. Like I said, it just depends where the oil comes from. Make sure all your bolts are tight. They loose up after time.

Oil in my cooling system but no coolant in my oil not coming through my radiator cause the car is manual

Probably an intake or head gasket leaking a bit. If there is no great amount of oil, i wouldn't worry too hard about it, but if there is a lot it's going to have to be fixed. Check your intake bolts, and make sure they're all tight.

I have a 1993 bmw 318i with 220,000 0n the clock. rough idol.

White smoke means water getting into cylinders. Usually leaking head gasket, or possible intake manifold gasket if the manifold is heated with water! You need to see your service people again. Weather conditions should never cause this problem. The oil leak might be fixed by tightening all of the perimeter bolts on the oil pan.

Oil leak at the bottom of the oil pan. Still leaking after i tightend the pan bolt. What should i check next, can this cause other problems?

Dear Sir,
Here is the oil leaking Problem Identifying Technique

Engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket are common.
  • The intake manifold plenum gasket may leak and cause increased oil consumption/burning and a spark knock during acceleration; the gasket should be replaced.
  • External oil leaks from valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets (front or rear), and the rear crankshaft (rear main) seal area are common. The rear main seal is an unlikely source. Normally, the bearing cap mating surfaces (as well as the sealing surface between the oil pan and bearing cap) are the source for the leaks.
  • Engine oil leaks at the distributor can be misdiagnosed as leaks from the intake manifold seal, oil pan gasket, or rear crankshaft (rear main) seal. A revised distributor is available if oil is found inside the distributor.
  • If the oil filter casing shows signs of distortion from excessive oil pressure, the oil pump should be replaced.
  • Often misdiagnosed as a leaking oil filter gasket, the oil filter adapter can seep from between the adapter and engine block.
  • Carbon buildup on the top of the piston is common. As the buildup increases with mileage and over time, symptoms may vary from light ticking, to ticking/hammering, to hammering/knocking noises. Fuel injector cleaner often solves the problem.

Leaks small amount of coolant, but I don't see

Check the engine oil, see if the level is going up and what the condition is. you can take the oil cap off and inspect under it. if there is a milky fluid then the antifreeze is leaking in to your engine crank case which is bad for the engine bearing. The other thing to also check is the transmission fluid. make sure that its till bright red and not over filled to make sure it's not leaking in to your transmission through the transmission cooler which is apart of the radiator too. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.
