Brendon, The supply side tape guide can jump out of its track and cause the mechanism to lock up. The load motor is trying to load the tape but cannot, so the load motor driver "times out" and displays the E02 error you're seeing. If you can get to it, try reseating the guide into its track, be careful not to scratch or touch the drum assy located right near the guide track. Good Luck, I hope you can resolve the problem. On page 51 of your manual, it states that an error has occurred and recommends resetting it by removing your battery, waiting a few minutes to clear it, and then resuming. If that doesn't clear the issue, then it may need servicing.

Previously, when I have experienced this problem, I have removed the battery for 24 hrs and on replacement switched the Camcorder to (M) and quickly pressed the "Menu" button. This has allowed me to scroll down the menu options to the Cam Reset option. Then I reset the camera and all is well. This has worked for the last 3 to 4 occasions, however, this time I cannot get the menu to stay on long enough to reset the camera. Any ideas?

SOURCE: JVC mini GR-D23EK Unit in SAFEGUARD mode E03 how to correct it

Hello. What I've found is that in dealing with the error codes your choices are very limited. You can try removing the battery and power supply for a while. This might clear the code, however, failing at that you'll be forced to send in the unit for repair--you are absolutely not alone in getting this type of problem--definitely get a quote first and keep "do I want to replace this unit" in the back of your mind....This is a JVC problem.---Rick

SOURCE: Shows fault E04 remove & reattach battery

Do a search of this problem and you will ind that every JVC owner is having the same problem. I finally got mine "reset" by powering the unit on in payback mode while holding down the "play" button. Then, turn it back off and power it on in the camera mode while holding down the "rec" button. This seems to have reset it and I've not had anymore issues SO FAR!
Good luck with it.

E04 Error

Eject tape leaving cover open and remove battery. Re-insert battery and re-insert tape also leaving cover open. Keep repeating this process until eo4 message disappears. This worked for my GR-DVL100e after about four repeats. After getting your camcorder operational, they say it is good practice not to leave tape in camcorder when not in use.

Do you happen to try with another tape? if so, it needs repair, mostlikely the capstan motor need to change and it needs hinger skill to do this, since you have to adjust it after replacing.

My Jvc Digital Video Camera GR-D371u has gone into SafeMode How would I go about getting it out of safemode i need it because i need it for my sisters wedding

JVC has some known faults with their camcorders-- and most of the solutions are outside the abilities of average users. JVC says in this instance, to remove the battery and the charger, and let the camera sit for some period of time. If the camera also has a small battery for keeping the date, remove it as well. Let is sit and then replug it in and see if this cures it.
