Question about Samsung SyncMaster 245BW Monitor

Open Question

Samsung 24bw screen fasdes out like burn in...

Ok got this monitor hooked it up and sometimes (50%) when i go to different applications the screen starts to fade to black like its burning? I alt tab to a diff application its fine but when i go back it does the same thing. this happens with any number of things, the web, games, sometimes it changes like one day my mozilla will display this problem and my game wont, the next day the opposite.

I have dled ever driver for my monitor and vid cards I can find. I have also tried this monitor on 3 diff computers including a laptop and it still does the same thing???

I am getting extremely frustrated.

I called Samsung, they sent me a new monitor (returned my old one) and guess what...DOES THE SAME THING!!!

I would normally thing this is a problem on my end since two diff monitors do it however I also have 2 syncmaster 19 inch monitors and a 19 inch hyundai and none of the display any of these problems.

my current system is an intel i7 system with 2 bfg geforce 280 1gig cards, my laptop is an alienware m9750 with 1 gig vid ram and my last system had an ati vid card in it, so it cant possibly be on my end.

please please please someone help me :(

Monitor fades to black (like burning) when on some websites. Mouse locks up and have to hard boot to recover.

SOURCE: Samsung SyncMaster 17" LCD Blacks out

If you have a second monitor, you could use your computer until the monitor goes black... then plug in a replacement monitor. My guess is that one will display black too...

My gut feeling is that your VGA card is on the fritz... I'm not convinced it's your monitor. Do you have a replacement VGA card you can try? I'll bet that'll take care of the problem.

SOURCE: No monitor picture on reboot.

Your problem in video card, try to reinstall driver. Monitors not so smart, they can not change resolution.

How do I make the page to cover the whole screen?

Cut a larger sheet of paper. Just kidding!
What 'page'. Do you mean Windows desktop? Or an application within Windows?
If the desktop is not filling the screen, the monitor should have an 'auto' setting within its menus.
My Samsung monitor (different model) has both a menu button and an auto button.
If you are referring to an application window (you can see some of the desktop around the outside of your application, just maximise your application.

Will not come on...green light blinks showing power, but screen remains black...have tried all resets, hooked up different computers to it etc...

It's possibly the cable/plug points. I leave the vga plug unscrewed so that the computer is easy to move around and I sometimes have problems with the screen not coming on. Try a different cable.

Screen goes pink and green starting with a few pixels

Best thing to do, try a different known working monitor to hook up to the computer. If the screen works and doesn't change colors then you know its the original monitor that is bad.

If you hook up the known working monitor and the same problem happens then you know its the video card that is bad and the video card would have to be replaced.

My samsung monitor was working just fine yesterday but today the screen is black and the green light is flashing....I have made sure that all the cables are properly attached...

Step one is to try hooking up your monitor to a different computer. If that does not yield a different result then it is likely going to be a problem with the power circuit in the monitor.

If your monitor is still under warranty then you should be ok, if not then you can contact Samsung for help by using THIS webform.

You may also be able to get this fixed at a local TV repair shop, but you best answer, considering the smallish size of that monitor would be to go buy a new one. Many decent LCD monitors can be had for about $100.

Try to connect tv as a monitor

Does the desktop have an S-video output on its video card? If it does, you only have to get either an S-video cable and hook it up from the computer to the TV, or get an S-video cable plus an S-Video to composite adapter, and hook it up.

For the video card to output to S-Video, you may need to fiddle with something in the control panels, or unplug the regular monitor and reboot (at least on my NVidia 5600 cards, this forces the card into using the S-Video output).

Personally I think you will be very disappointed. Using normal computer applications while using your TV as a monitor will be basically impossible; the text will be too small and blurry. Web browsing on picture-and-headline type pages will be OK, but everything else? Instant headache. Most applications that are designed to be accessed via a TV screen instead of a TV monitor have huge font sizes and lots of contrast (cf. the TiVo's interface, for example); they're designed much differently than desktop apps. You may want to look into screen-magnification apps to make it easier on your eyes.

regards,

hope

Hooking up a laptop

You must enable the monitor output. This is a function combination. Look for the key with the diagram of a screen on it. Usually the first pressing turns on the monitor as well as the screen, the second leaves the monitor on and turns off the screen, the third brings it back to standard (screen only).

Samsung 45bn H output transistot over hating and burning out after a fewminits

THE MOST ECONOMICAL SURE FIRE FIX IS TO REPLACE YOUR MONITOR WITH A QUALITY LCD SCREEN IT UTLIZES 50% less electricty AND RUNs A LOT COOLER.

IF THE HORIZONTAL OUTPUT TRANSISTOR IS BAD MOST LIKEY THE POWER CONTROL BOARD IS GOING BAD you may also have a bad resistor or diode allowing to much current on power control board
