Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
I have what will probably seem like a completely novice problem - but I'm stumped.
I have a machine that was running XP - and I upgraded it to Vista Ultimate. It was a clean XP install (it had been purchased as refurbished) and I hadn't run it under XP and as the first order of business upgraded it to Vista Ultimate.
I am able to use the system and to access the internet, etc. However, when I try to load add-ons to IE (like the Netflix Movie Viewer - or the ABC movie viewer), nothing happens. I get the series of messages about "run" or "save" the file and then nothing happens. If I select run - nothing runs. If I select save, it asks me where to save it (and I indicate a variety of places) and then the file never shows up.
What is going on? It seems like there is some kind of protection that is on that I can't seem to get around. I've tried turning off the firewall, turning off pop-blocking, all kinds of things. I'm just missing something basic, it must be. Any ideas?
Check the privacy options in internet explorer under tools and options. Also check the UAC controls on vista and make sure the addons are not being blocked. There is also two versions of internet explorer on vista one with and one without addons try the other and see if it works.
