I had that same problem with mine a few weeks ago and my disc did not support it because i have vista so i went on line and down loaded a programme, so if you type in software download for deskjet just follow the programme you want and you should be able to scan

Hi. Even though your printer is wireless for printing it is not wireless for scanning. You must connect the printer to the computer using the printer cable. IF you do not have a printer cable you can get one at walmart or staples. J.

There is an OCR reader in the programs included with the install disk. This OCR will break down your entire document for editing. If you don't have the disk, it very simple to get all the software from the site.
This sort of thing can be down to the fact the settings for communication to the printer is separate for printing/faxing/scanning. So you will need to find the scanning device (will usually be called HP3050 regardless, or something along the lines of that) and make sure it's set to communicate through USB and no other means.
