Not likely will your current remote ever have the capability for your newer model.
The code sets are designed into the Dish remote as they were available then and don't 'learn' newer sets.
You might try to find one of the other Funai brand code sets under these names:
Funai, Symphonic, Emerson, Aventura, Durabrand,
ESA, Magnavox, INSIGNIA, and Misakai
Even if you do find one that gives you some functions, I doubt you will find one set for both TV and DVD player so you will have to try individual code sets; one for TV, another for DVD.
There is no switch [TV\DVD] ? Usually, when u turn off the TV, it should goto DEFAULT, which would be the TV. Do u have an antenna connected to the TV. Some TV go blank [deaf & dumb] when there is no signal to TV. If you cannot get the TV portion on, then I would suggest the u have an electronic switch [DVD is off, it will goto tv] that is shorted in DVD position. Is there a button that has no markings ?[you know, rubbed off by touching it so much] touch EVERY button two times [one for on, and one for off] except the ON\OFF button !!
I used a GE Universal remote. The package has number 24921 and the instruction manual says it's a RM24912. Anyway, this model will control pretty much all aspects of this tv combo assuming we are talking about the KLH KDT133UY tv/dvd.
What you need to do is program the tv button on the remote to code 0029 which is a KONKA code. The real maker of KLH electronics. Then set the dvd/vcr button to code 0905. Now in order to access the tv menu, press the tv button then press the shift button which is the setup button. Then press the INFO button for menu. SHIFT, MENU, OK, and EXIT are printed with a black backgroung on the remote. Hince you need to press shift.
Took a while to figure it out, but here you go. Good Luck!
the remote for your durabrand combo unit is part number NE207UD and can be found online through many retailers, as far as i know there are no universal remotes that support the durabrand codes, if they do it will be under a different manufacturers name.
