On power on the light switches from standby to on and the screen lights up and displays the "Digital Television" text that it always shows for a moment while powering up. then the green likgt flashes a few times and it powers down.

Sylvania tech support said unplugging the TV for an hour should fix it. when I called back to say it didn't help they basically said sorry your problem.

This is a $600 set that lasted exactly 12 months and 4 days.
That's right, out of warrantee for 4 days.

    I am absolutely furious.
Cost of ownership $50 a month.
For that money I probably could have rented something in the 57 inch area.

First thing to do is unplug the power from the wall for about 1 hour, then plug the TV back in and see if the results are the same.

If so, obviously the television is in some sort of error condition, or the input is set to something like HDMI and you're using the compnent inputs.

have the make and model no. of your TV handy.

And good luck, because Sylvania's website is SLOW and most of the time unresponsive. You'll probably get faster results by returning the unit to your dealer and raising a stink.

Is the TV set to air or cable? It has to be set to air/antenna and a channel search has to be done first before a picture will show.

Make sure you are connected to a good digital antenna, roof mounted and pointing to your local transmitter. If in doubt, have a qualified TV engineer come and check your antenna. It may be slightly out of alignment.

Check whether the input selection have been set to AV. If the set plays dvds, and not RF, the tuner to its must be suspected; provided the input selection is done correct.

Hi:
Using remote locate a button called tv/video or Input, turn on the DVD player and hit this button until you see your DVD player Logo. Most dvd players use either video 1 or 2, or componet or HDMI outputs. Seems you have changed the TV's input back to TV mode and you need to change it to a video mode input.

I lost my satellite because of money problems. I don't have cable for the same reason. My television will play dvds but I cannot get any television channels. Is there a setting I am missing, or any other...

Yes.
You will need to get an antenna(either indoor or outdoor) for OTA (over the air) receptions,
> Connect the antenna to the back of the tv.
> Go into the main menu and set the channel signal input to Air instead of Cable.
> Go to the channel auto-program menu and scan in the channels.
> Save the results.
> Watch tv.

There is something called FTA (Free to Air) which is similar to satellite tv but does not have a monthly cost. You would however need a receiver.

If you are using the HDMI input, you are using the best hook up that is available.

Use Visio just for dvds?

(duh)

I will post this answer just in case anyone else out there has this problem.

Press the button on the remote that says AV. The blue screen saying "no signal" disappears and you can watch videos without a server or antenna connection.

Aquos Turns off by itself

How many times per second does the POWER led blink? (dont worry about the OPC).

1x per second (constant, steady blink) = bad inverter/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board

There isnt really anything you can do to fix it yourself, you can order the part over EBay, not hard to install just unscrew/unplug --- plug/screw..
