Question about Dell Latitude X300 Notebook
They all (4 of them) stopped responding one day when my kids were playing on Skype. Now no external cameras, ipods or memory sticks function when plugged in. I have tried un- and re-installing drivers but to no avail. ipods still charges but that's all. Nothing is recognised as having been inserted.
It sounds like you have properly tried to troubleshoot it from the OS side of things (driver reinstall, etc.). You can also check to see if there are any BIOS settings that pertain to the USB ports (generally these don't just up and change themselves though).
If it is indeed a hardware failure, you can do a workaround on your notebook using a USB 2.0 Cardbus Adapter - available on ebay and fairly inexpensive.
Note: The link provided are not my auctions therefore I can't vouch for the individual sellers, etc.
