You need to check your settings, you may need to fool the machine..
on the webpage, or the front panel, select material type as plain.
set the weight setting as auto.
in the driver, make sure the setting is set to "printer Setting"
also in the driver check the selection for "black" instead of "colour"
hope this helps..

We have a 3 part carbonless contract which is printed on both sides. The 3rd page is barely visible when the original 3 part form is completed (filled out) by ball point pen. Is it the carbonless paper...

Carbonless paper is great, but it deteriorates with age.
(Nothing new here. )

I don't know that there are different sensitivity paper available, but usually to get a good result the paper should be on a flat hard surface.
Naturally the writer must press much harder than with carbon paper.

- Yes, I have once seen carbonless paper forms printed on the wrong side. -

Front paper jam

Always try to remove a paper jam without tearing the paper.
If torn, make sure no scraps of it are missing.
Lokk for any tiny scraps, esp stuck on paper path sensor.

Stretched Printing of Photos and graphics

ok, the issue is most likely technical, but fixable with a mouse click.
your MAC, is most likely running a pc prossessor version.
this causes mis inter[pretation of pc based files and comes into play with CS3 programs..
go into the mac hard drive, and select the appliaction (in this case In Design) go the the info page, and click on "more info"...you should see a check box for "rosetta". check this box. and then print again, problem should be solved....is so, go into all the CS3 applications and do the same..check the rosetta box...good luck...

What is wrong with this Illumina???

I have been running this machine for 2 years. The only way I can run is too 1 printer media to plan - on Ilumina display panel 2 media weight to auto on Ilumina display panel - 3 When printing in printer dialog be sure set these options -  -printer features-insert option - set media type to Printer Setting

I have tried changing the media types as well and will not work for me- but setting to auto works. http://www.inkcoverage.com

Slow printing

try to verify your RAM space or do the following:

Step one: Verifying the amount of RAM
  1. Verify the amount of RAM installed in the computer.
  2. Determine the amount of memory currently in use by background programs or processes.
Programs/processes will run in the background even when no applications are running. Most of these programs/processes will be indicated by an icon in the lower right corner next to the time.
Less memory available for applications will result is slower processing time and consequently, printing speed.
To determine processes running in Windows 2000/XP , do the following:
    1. Press Ctrl , Alt , and Delete simultaneously and then release.
    2. From the Windows Security box, select Task Manager.
    3. Click the Processes tab to view all running processes.
    4. Click the Performance tab to view the total and available amount of memory.
To determine processes running in Windows 98 , do the following:
    1. Open the Device Manager .
    2. Click the Performance tab.
The available system resources will display as a percentage.
  3. Turn off unnecessary background processes.
This will free up system resources and increase printing speed.
To turn off processes in Windows 98/ME/XP , do the following:
    1. Click Start , Run , and type msconfig .
    2. From the System Configuration Utility, click the Startup tab.
    3. Determine what processes are unnecessary and remove the checkmark those items.

Step two: Verifying the amount of hard drive space Follow the steps below to determine the amount of hard drive space on the main drive.
  1. Open My Computer , right-click the C drive, and then click Properties .
This will display a chart along with the total hard drive space, used space, and available space.
  2. Verify that there is at least 2-3 GB of hard drive space available.
The computer will require at least this amount to process printing data for simple text files, more for image files. The lower the amount of available hard drive space, will greater the time to process print data.

Step three: Ensuring the paper sensor is clean and not damaged The all-in-one product paper sensor plays an important role in determining the print speed.
Printing a self-test or demo page will ensure that the paper sensor is in proper working condition. If the page completes in less than 40 seconds, the sensor is working correctly.
Even if the sensor is working correctly, the printer driver might need to have the paper sensor turned off. To turn off the sensor, follow the steps below:
  1. Open the Printer folder, right-click the printer and click Printing Preferences or Properties .
  2. From the Properties box, click the Paper/Quality or Features tab.
  3. Under the Paper Type section, open the menu and select Plain Paper instead of Automatic.
This will disable the paper sensor and increase the print speed.

Extremely slow copying

Cartridges may give a very slow printing if internally damaged, or :
When using colored paper in the all-in-one, printing or copying is slow. This issue is a result of the automatic paper type sensor misreading the colored paper as photo paper. The print out takes longer because the unit is printing in Best mode instead of Normal mode.
  1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  2. Double-click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Right-click the appropriate all-in-one, and then click Printing Preferences .
  4. Click the Paper/Quality tab and under Type is: select Plain Paper . This sets the default paper type setting to Plain Paper.
Hope this helps.
