Hi,
I would like to know if anyone can recommend me a type of ear/head phone to
use for biking.
I have a good pair of headphones for home so sound quality is not the main
issue.
I don't want to put the volume too high because it will damage my ears and i
will not be able to hear important outside sounds like car horns.
The main problem is noise of the wind. Not only wind noise that comes in to
my ear the regular way, but also wind that vibrates obstacles on my head
like my ears or my headphones. This is why big closed headphones are not
necessarily better than fontopia earphones. Any bikers around here ?
Thanks,
Noud

I would strongly suggest that you not wear headphones while biking, Though
some car drivers will toot their horn to advise you of their approach, others
will take aim and the only warning you have will be the sound of their engine,
radiator fan or wheels on the road, Any sound delivered near the ear can mask
such sounds. And then your family will have to contact my tag line to see
about reprations. (The computer picked this tag line at random by the way)

much. The other option is to turn up the volume to levels that will surely NOT improve your
hearing...
I'd say better cycle without them. I don't think it's worth getting into an accident because
you just had to listen to a song... ?

Thanks for your reply. I looked on the panasonic website. Do you mean the
clip-on spiral headphones ?
Like the RP-HS9A ?

Several manafacturers do stereo earphones that are like the bud type but
clip behind the ear in the same way as spectacles do. They do let enough of
the outside world in so that you can hear what is going on. I have two
pairs, one by panasonic, the other I think is a sony. They work well for any
of the normal portable stereo devices available (radio, CD, MD and I would
assume the new MP3 players. Living in Milton Keynes as I do, a cycle is the
only way to get around.
One other thought, is it possible to power up cordless headphones for
portable (non mains) use? If so, why not try those.
Regards and I hope that this is helpful
