It can be done...

do you know the extension of the phone?
If not goto the phone, press FEATURE *0 and the intercom button, this will tell you the DN of the phone...

Ok, now get into the system programming,
**266344

-> TERMINALS&SETS and enter type in the extension of the set
-> hit next till you find RESTRICTIONS and enter
-> then you will find SET RESTRNS enter
-> FILTERS enter
-> typically filter 1 is restrict everything but local calling and internal calling (to find out ~ go back to RESTRN FILTERS and look at the programming) and change all the settings: NORMAL to 1/ AFTERNOON to 1/ NIGHT to 1 etc. to 1

This is how I would restrict a phone that I do not want calling long distance that is in an unsupervised area.

How do I program a norstar t7316e phone to call long distance?

Unless "Set Relocation" is turned on (usually is / should be OFF), plugging a set into a different jack gives it the extension # and programming of that jack. Press Feature * 0 and an Intercom key to find out what the new extension # is, and program that extension to allow long distance. Or change the cross-connect to physically put the old port on the new jack.

You would have to call the phone company and have them block long distance calls.

Can i use the features to prevent someone from making long distance phone calls?

Yes. You need installer access to programming for your phone system and it's part of set capabilities and is put in as restrictions and permissions to a phone.

If you're programming in the U.S., don't forget to block ^ codes (like ^67) and 11xx codes (as in 1167). you might BLOCK 0 and 1*** and then ALLOW 1800, 1888, 1877, 1877, 1855, and 1 plus your home area code. Don't forget to make sure 911 is not restricted.

You will probably need to get a pro in. There are a lot of different programs that can be used to restrict the extension.

Can't dial long distance from one phone

Sounds like that station is programmed to restrict certain digits (like 1 in the prefix) -- this is usually done by the tech because the owner doesn't want unauthorized calls to take place from a publicly accessible phone. To confirm this, swap the phone with another identical working phone and see if it's still restricted. Good luck!

Partner 18 phone has long distance blocked

There are a bunch of ways to accomplish this.

FIRST. When you say you cant dial long distance. What happens when you do? Do you get an error tone from the phone system? Or do you get a recording saying you cant dial long distance?

If you get an error tone, there are still a few ways to make this happen, so report back.

Unfortunately you have to access the system programming to do the changes and I'm sure your tech company has a secure password on the system.
