Dimension 4700 my headphones work fine but i cant

Are you have the headphones and speakers both pluged in? When you plug in headphones the speakers get muted. You need to change your sound settings back to your sound card if you use usb headphones. The plug on the front of the 4700 also automatically mutes the speakers.

My speaker is muted - no sound on my HP Pavilion zv5

This sounds as though there may be a problem with the driver for the sound card within the computer.

If you enter the device manager (found in control panel) you can update the drivers for this device from within there :o)

We had to change the power box on our pc last one started to smoke due to fan dying, after getting everything back working we have no sound except the normal beep. the computer will not recognise a sound...

Speaker (right speaker) wire to GREEN socket. Open your device manager and see if any sound component is registering a splat...yellow ! Is the light on the speaker. Open sound and see that no X is in the mute box. Make sure the volume in turned up on the speaker and the computer. If all that is cool...reinstall the sound drivers for your computer. I don't mean to belittle you but its the little things that are missed can mess you up for hours-and man does it give one a red face. good luck , hope something here helps

I unpluged my speakers from my tower and now they won't work after pluging them back in

Make sure the speakers have electric power connected and the power light is on for at least one speaker. Make sure the volume on the speaker control is at least half way up.

Make sure your volume in Windows is at least halfway up and not muted.

Unplug the speaker jack and re-plug it firmly into the hole you just removed it from. Test for sound.

If no sound, unplug and try another hole of the same size on the back of the computer and test for sound. Continue testing until you have tried every hole the jack will fit into. One of them will very likely work.

You have to disconnect your cables again and put it in the green conector. then start up your PC, and check the mixer con sound multimedia if all is up, and NOT MUTE, then see if sound is comming again, check if your sound card, is ENABLE on BIOS, and drivers are ok.
Good Luck
