Question about Euro-Pro Shark Steam Mop - Gray/ Purple Vacuum

1 Answer

Broken/snapped off handle with minimal use...twice...two differen

Hi! I am currently @ my sons' school and rushing/ unable to review other problems at the moment. I love the Shark steam cleaner...I have nerve injuries in my dominant right arm and semi-paralysis...SO!!! I am unable to exert much pressure on the handle. I find that this piece of equipment works wonders with minimal effort and get compliments on my floors almost every time someone comes to visit.
MY PROBLEM (which may already be posted)..............I bought a second machine after the first, only 3-4wks. old, broke while I was using it. It suddenly snapped, the handle, just above the spot where it slides down to produce steam.......I BLAMED MYSELF..........well, I bought a new one, and this a.m., took it off the hook in the pantry. It was behind a broom and dustmop......as I took it out, I wasn't forcing it...BUT.....it suddenly snapped in the exact same spot on the handle......I am so frustrated. I am a single, currently partially disabled mom, trying to get back to work...using this cleaner instead of a mop and bucket both because I love it and to rest and heal my injured upper extremity and neck..........IS there ANYTHING I can do??or do I have to go to Best Buy and spend another almost $100.00 on a third one?? Does anyone know of a sturdier brand I can buy??
$$$ is an issue as I currently have no income........I actually got a $2.00 lottery ticket and for once was lucky and won $100.00 which immediately paid for my second Shark. Any suggestions if this can be fixed or somehow replaced??? THX for any/all suggestions........Sam

My handle snapped too but because something a 5lb bag of sugar fell on it.  I don't want to buy a new one and was thinking of using mighty putty and trying that.

I had the same problem, my handle broke. I called customer service # (someone from India it sounded like) and after 20 minutes she told me I had to pay $20 plus shipping for a new one. I complained b/c it was ony 7 months old and she immediately said it would be sent to me for free. So, get 20 minutes of free time and call customer service.

Handle broke off in same place. I emailed customer service, but got a reply to call them. I asked for the specific part, a #6 Pump Actuator.

    The response I got was:

Thank you for your recent email.
Please call Customer Service at (800) 798-7398 for further assistance.

    With regards,

    Customer Service Team
    Euro-Pro Operating LLC.

Seems they only want to repair it for you, or sell you a new one.

Same problem, handle broken at actuator. I was able to remove the broken part, found the manual and the part that I needed (#5 lower cord wrap, or #6 pump actuator). The part that is needed is not the one that is part of the actuator, but the piece that the lower cord wrap is attached to and snaps into the pump actuator. Unfortunately, I received the same story from customer service - send it in for repair. They would not provide a complete picture or the part number ofr the lower cord assembly so I could determine which part I needed or if I actually needed to ship it back. And, of course, they would not talk to me until they had recorded ALL of my information. VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!! Too bad, seems like a good product (other than the handle), but poor customer service.

How do I repair a non-functioning solution trigger

The trigger has tabs on each side that snap into slots in the handle so that the trigger pivots in the slots. The slots where the trigger pivots may have broken, if so the trigger will not push the valve open and allow the water flow. If the tabs are broken you will need to replace the upper handle. If you supply me with your model number I will determine the proper part for your model.

Why are the brushes not spinning?

Hi Liz, if your brushes are still in good shape and do not need replacing then I would see if something else isn't broken or busted. You can always check for an obstruction in the brushes or remove the brush assembly & then reseat the brush assembly. Before doing so you should remove both Tanks from your Hoover. Then there are two buttons on top of the Nozzle Assembly that holds the brushes. You will need to release these two buttons on top, then tilt the handle of the unit backwards and this should let the brush assemble fall out of place. Inspect the brush assembly for any obstruction and even check to see if all the brushes still spin okay. If all looks good then align the post on top of the brush assembly with the hole on the bottom of the nozzle assembly and then snap the brush assembly back into place. I know this might sound crazy but did you first check to make sure that you did not have the switch set to "Wet\Dry Pickup." This will stop the brushes from turning as the switch needs to be in the other position to turn.

The brush bar isn't going round ?

your problem seems to be the belt has snapped. Underneath the the hover there is a rubber belt that connects around the brush bar and around the motor, this belt will be broken. They can purchased from any hoover shop for a couple of pounds.

Brushbar not spinning

Hi.
If your Dc14 is all floors it will have A clutch fitted this is easy to determine just stand in front of your machine look down at the left hand side there will be a coloured knob on the side e.g. blue.yellow, green, purple this will have a pointer on it which when you pull handle back to vacuum must move to drive position you can rotate it by hand if it is stuck in park position ,
If there is no belts broken the brushes will now turn.
If they don’t the chances are one of the 2 belts have snapped.
You will then need Manuals to help you repair the problem.
