Probably the best thing to do in this situation is to empty the washer out, then unplug it and turn the water off at the spigot.
Then invert the washer, leaning it back, so as to reach the blades under the drum.

Check the pressure switch and ensure small hose is attached and intact, this located at the rear of the drum, to gain access and lift the top cover, insert a knife or thin blade approx. 4" in the from each side in between the seam on the front panel, this will release the top cover clips and the top cover can be hinged up and back. The pressure switch is at the rear of the drum and has a small 1/4" hose attached which also attaches to the drum low down, ensure the hose is not perished and is securely attached, if this is ok then replace switch, note wire positions and disconnect hose. switch may be tested by blowing in where hose goes and testing continuity across terminals, as you blow the contacts should open.
Here are the steps.Hope this helps.
Insert a putty knife between the top of the
kick plate and bottom of the front panel near
the center of the washer, if you have an older
model top load washer. Move the putty knife blade
in and out in that area until you feel an
obstruction. The obstruction is the kick plate
Press the putty knife blade over the spring clip
until you feel the clip disengage. Let go of the
putty knife and grab both ends of the kick plate
with your hands. Pull the kick plate away from
ift the front of the washer with help from a friend,
if you have a front load model Whirlpool. Slide a
block of wood under the front of each side and gently
lower the washer
Remove the three hex head screws on the bottom edge
of the washer kick plate with a Phillips-head
screwdriver or nut driver. Pull the kick plate
away from the washer.
Take a putty knife (or any stiff flat blade) and insert it just under the top of the washer on the front right and left edges. Both sides have a spring clip that needs to be undone. If the tub looks out of balance you will need to check the suspention rods, they are long thin poles that have a white & yellow boot at the bottom. It sounds like one of them fell off, just reinsert it into the sleeve and you will be good to go.
its one of two things 1. something is stuck under the lip of the drum, like a dime or paperclip. Fell all around the lip of the drum and you should feel it. 2. your Bearing Glides are worn down, they run about $5 each and yours has four of them, you will need to pull it apart to change them, its not to hard to do yourself
you can pop of the agitaor ( held on by a 7/16 screw to the the inner tub will lift right out, it merely rests upon the spline, youll need to "pop" the main top first by "popping hte release clips. approximately 6 inches form either side between the main lid and the front panel are the clips, use a sturdy putty knife as these are tough to undo, the outer tub ring then simply unsnaps off and youll be able to remove the inner basket with no problem.
the drum lifts right out on this machine, ( not even screwed into place, but hte the trick is popping themain llid assy, by placing a puttty knife betwent the main top and the front face perhaps 2-3 inches in from each side, after removing the top, the drum should liftright out of the outer tub, ty using a laundry bag for the smaller atore
on this machine use a putty knife slide the knife across the top slot between top and front on each end you will fell a place where it will stop pull knife out a little and then push in with knife while pulling out on front the front will come off in your hands and every thing is right there
