I cannot load CDBCommunication Layer. How can I stop this message from appearing on the picture???

Fix for ACDSee 6.0
Jun 21, 2005 Everytime MS comes out with a security patch for Windows XP Pro my ACDSee would start poping up an error message until I deleated the program and reinstalled. A giant pain that had me ready to ditch ACDSee.
The error message: "can't load cdbcommunication layer"
I recently tried ACDSee's customer service again since some time had past since my first encounter with this problem. This time they had a quick and easy solution and here it is.
Try to register your DBLocalServer.exe COM object by doing the following...
1: Start DOS Command Prompt window by clicking on Start button, Run, and type "cmd"
2: CD into the location of DBLocalServer.exe by typing this (cd "c:\program files\common files\acd systems") in the command prompt.
3: Register DBLocalServer.exe COM object by typing
DBLocalServer regserver
It worked for me, so I thought I'd share it here.

How to remove the scvhost.exe Virus.

Svchost.exe is the name of a generic host process for services that run from dynamic link libraries (DLLs). A variety of worm malware programs spread a similarly named file <b>Scvhost.exe </b>via Yahoo! Messenger that blocks the Task Manager and Registry Editor, as well as use of the command prompt.<br /> <br /> <b><u>Warning</u></b><br /> Manual removal of Scvhost.exe may be very difficult as the removal process requires knowledge of the Operating System's command prompt and Registry Editor. If not performed properly, your computer system might experience permanent damage. Consequently, manual removal might be best for experienced users. Less experienced users might want to consider using an automatic spyware removal application, such as that offered by Trend Micro. This worm duplicates itself to different locations of shared folders. The duplicated program uses a folder icon that has an .exe file extension. DO NOT double click on any of these folders.<br /> <br /> <b><u>Follow these step by step instructions to remove the scvhost.exe virus.</u></b><br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 1 (Turning off System Restore)</u></b><br /> This is so that if you ever need to use System Restore after you have removed the virus, it doesn't restore the virus aswell.<br /> <br /> If the operating system of the infected computer is either Windows Me or Windows XP, turn off System Restore while this fix is being implemented. To turn off System Restore within Windows Me, click <b>Start &gt; Settings &gt; Control Panel</b>. Double-click <b>System</b>. Select F<b>ile System</b> from the Performance tab. Left click the <b>Troubleshooting</b> tab and check the <b>Disable System Restore</b> box. Click <b>OK</b>. <br />To turn off System Restore within Windows XP, log in as Administrator and click <b>Start</b>. Right click <b>My Computer</b>" and select <b>Properties</b> from the shortcut menu. Check the <b>Turn off System Restore</b> option for each drive on the System Restore tab. Left click <b>Apply</b> and <b>Yes</b> to confirm when prompted. Click <b>OK</b>.<br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 2 (Run in safe mode)</u></b><br /> Restart your computer in Safe Mode and log in as Administrator. Press <b>F8</b> after the first beep occurs during start up, before the display of the Microsoft Windows logo. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode from the selection menu.<br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 3 (Accessing Command prompt)</u></b><br /> Access the command prompt. Click <b>Start &gt; Run</b>. Type <b>cmd</b>. Click <b>OK</b>. Then in the command prompt type <b>cd </b>to<b> </b>change directory then press the space bar. <br />Type the name of the full directory path of the folder containing your Windows system files. It will be either <b>C:\Windows\System </b>or<b> C:\Windows\System 32</b><br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 4</u></b><br /> From the command prompt, type the following to unprotect the files for removal:<br /><b>attrib -h -r -s scvhost.exe</b> and press <b>Enter</b>;<br /><b>attrib -h -r -s blastclnnn.exe </b>and press<b> "Enter</b>;<br /><b>attrib -h -r -s autorun.inf</b> and press <b>Enter</b>.<br /> <br /> <b><u>Step 5</u></b><br /> Delete the files by typing the following from the command prompt:<br /><b>del scvhost.exe</b> and press <b>Enter</b>;<br /><b>del blastclnnn.exe</b> and press <b>Enter</b>;<br /><b>del autorun.ini</b> and press <b>Enter</b>.<br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 6</u></b><br /> Type "<b>cd\</b>" to return to the main Windows directory.<br />Unprotect and delete the Autorun.inf file by typing the following from the Windows directory command prompt:<br /><b>attrib -h -r -s autorun.inf</b> and press <b>Enter</b>;<br /><b>del</b> <b>autorun.inf</b> and press <b>Enter</b>;<br />Type <b>regedit</b> and press <b>Enter</b> to open the Registry Editor.<br /> <b></b> <br /> <b><u>Step 7</u></b><br /> Locate the following entry:<br /><b>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run</b>.<br />Delete the incorrectly spelled Yahoo! My microsoft power point need a product key

You can extend your office if u don't have product key

1. Go to Start > All Program > Accessories and right click on "Command Prompt" then click on"Run as administrator". Alternatively you can run Command Prompt as administrator by typing"cmd" in the start menu search box and pressing Shift + Ctrl + Enter.

Then, Go to

C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\OSPPREARM.EXE (copy path)

And (paste) in command prompt

So type the above full path of the tool OSPPREARM.exe in the command prompt and hit enter. Your command should look like

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform\OSPPREARM.exe"

You are done! But remind that you can apply this trick only for five times. If you run the above command for the sixth time you will get an error message like this

It is recommended to wait until you only have only 1 day to activate left before doing this to make the most out of the 6 times you have to use this rearm option. If you use this command after done 30 days/expire day your office will not be genuine so use this before expiry day/30days...

Have HP mini notebook. everytime im on the

Sounds like spyware / malware i would use an online scanner like Eset or a program like Malwarebytes.

also to stop the computer from restarting open the command prompt window (start menu, click run, type cmd, click ok...) type "shutdown.exe /a" without the "" and there is a space between exe and /a this will abort the shutdown.

Window Vista problem??

If you receive this error message or encounter difficulties when attempting to launch Pro Tools using Windows Vista disabling DEP may solve the problem.

This option disables "Data Execution Prevention", a feature of Windows that can sometimes cause errors. This won’t harm anything, but also isn’t always necessary.

How to Disable DEP:

1. Click "Start"
2. Click "All Programs"
3. Click "Accessories"
4. Right Click on "Command Prompt"
5. Left click on "Run as Administrator"
6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission
7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully
9. Reboot and DEP should be off.

If you would like to re-enable DEP enter the following into the command prompt window:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully. After restarting the computer, DEP will be re-enabled.

Side-by-side configuration

The "side-by-side" component is associated with the Vista Windows Resource Protection (WRP). You may have a corrupted file in the SxS folder.

To resolve this issue, use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) to repair these files.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow/Continue.

2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow

(The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correctMicrosoft versions.)

This may take some time to run, so be patient.

Hope this fixes the problem.
