Getting harddrive info from a 'dead' Tablet computer...

Is there any way to get the information from the dead HP Pavilion tx 1000? Mine died just past warranty in the ways described (black screen, etc. - battery drain did not work), and I'm now so disappointed and disgusted with the bleeping thing, that I just want to get the info from the hard drive and call it a day.

I will NEVER get HP brand ANYTHING again.

The internal wireless died first, by the way, we could not resolve it; finally bought an external adaptor so I could get on the internet wirelessly. We also had to bring it back to factory specs TWICE before it died...

If I lose the info on it because of HP building junk, the level of being 'upset' will be immeasurable.

NO more HPs, thats for sure.

I don't know if the HDD is damaged or not; I am hoping it is not - when I think of the information I may have lost, it makes me feel a little sick. How expensive would it be to get the info if I can't do it by removing the drive and connecting it to another computer?

Thank you for posting how to get info off the hard drive - I didn't have a clue if it could even be done, and I am planning to try this as soon as possible.

Did the HDD died to? otherwise you can connect it to onother pc and get the info

If the HDD also died, well you can still get the info our from it but its verry verry expensive to do that.

So i hope that your HDD still runs so you can connect it to another pc and get the info out of it

    Nic

The internal hard drive can be removed and connected to any desktop computer that has a SATA interface and power leads for the same.

Then you can actually "see" the drive.

P.S. This is all based on the assumption that the hard drive itself is not at fault and has physical and/or controller problems.

If you find that the drive has failed let me know I have some sources that will get that data for you for approx $300

My HP Pavilion tx 1000 continues to freeze every few minutes.

it is a 2 posibility problem: 1)driver problem;
2) cpu to hot , you must check if the cooler work;if yes you must open the case take out the whole cooler and clean the radiator wings(a lot of dust) and then apply new termal paste , the old is crusty.
That must solve your problem.

"Operating System Not Found" in Compaq Tablet PC TC 1000

That means it is unable to see your harddrive. Unlike a tower computer a laptops harddrive plugs straight into the motherboard this cannot be a cable fault.
Either the harddrive has died or the motherboards drive controller has gane bad.
You will need to seek profesional help to deal with this, the only thing you can do your self would be to swap the harddrive with another and see if you get a Windows stop message, your machine would not be able to start the Windows of another machine because of hardware differences, but if you got a Windows error message at least it would tell you if your harddrive was dead or not.
