Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

"Access? & ?Turn the power off and on again? keep appearing

When I turn on my Cyber-shot Sony DSC W50 digital camera, the word "Access” appears on the screen, the lens pops in and out three times then a beep sounds followed by the words “Turn the power off and on again”. The lens remains popped out while the words are on the screen till it automatically shuts down.
I have turned the power OFF and ON again several the problem still persists. I have removed the battery and replaced it after a few seconds. It has not worked. I have tried to hit it as was suggested by some on fixya.com, it did not work for me though some comments show that it worked for others. Where is the re-set button? What would be solution to this problem?
Please help I like my camera so much.

I have exactly the same problem, although I have The Sonsy DSC-W70. When I turn it on, the word "access" appears, the lens pops in and out a few times, followed by a beep and the instructions to "turn the power off and on again"...I tried that, and removing the battery, but still, nothing. Aaaaahhhh, help!

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Hello,

Bummer huh? I dropped mine a while back and damaged my battery cover!

I would try...taking out the batteries and reinstalling them! This may reset your camera?

Otherwise, I would do a web search and type in:

Hope this helps you get your camera working again!

Kind Regards!

Sony cyber-shot DSC-W50 digital camera when cutting on the on button on the camera it says turn the power off and on again.

You can try the following 2 ways: 1. Format and restore the initial value of the camera. 2.First open the battery box cover (notice: do not pull out the battery now), then start the camera, pull out the battery just after the Len has turn out. Install the battery a few seconds later. Now start your camera with the Play button which is next to the viewfinder boot, and then moving the hand wheel to switch to camera mode, after Image appearing the screen, the camera will work properly.
