"Can't find a certificate to log on to wireless network"
I have been having problems with my Compaq Pressario V3000 laptop for the last couple of days. Wireless network button won't turn on - I think I have 'fixed' the problem - but now, I can't log onto the network - it is giving me the above error. Can anyone help? I can't ring my ISP, as the modem is from my last ISP & my current provider doesn't support Speed Stream modems. Is anyone able to tell me what I have to do?

If you are getting certificate error message when pulling up a website, check on your date and time set on the computer. Make sure it is correct. If it is and you still are getting the same error, try resetting the internet explorer settings. Do this:
Open Internet Explorer.
Click on Tools->Internet Options.
Go to the Advanded Tab.
In the bottom right hand corner there is a box that says Reset. A dialog box will appear, click on Reset.

Connect to it directly using a LAN cat 5 cable, not wireless.
Log in as admin to the router, and change the wireless password to something new.
Disconnect the cable then try connecting from each laptop by wireless, when it prompts for password enter the new password.
First of all, you need to check if the laptop is correctly connectedto the router. try the following steps to see if you are effectively connected to the router :
1. Open the command prompt on your desktop computer (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command prompt OR Windows Key+R -> type cmd). 2. Type ipconfig /all and then note down the value given for Default Gateway 3. Repeat the first two steps on the laptop and compare the values of Default Gateway.
If the values are different, then it means the laptop is not correctly connected to the router. You will have to delete the Wireless network configuration (In the Network and Sharing Center, you will find it in "Manage Wireless Networks").Then start the wizard for connecting to a wireless network. Be sure that you enter the network security key correctly.
If the default gateway values are correct, check the firewall/antivirus settings on your laptop. If you cannot or don't know where to look, deactivate them completely and try again. You may also need to check the parental control settings and your web browser settings (notably if it is in offline mode).
Last but not least, on the laptop, delete all broadband connections and/or dial-up connections that are present (in the Network and Sharing Center, go to "Change adapter settings" to find any broadband or dial-up connections).
This was a rather simple fix. When I was speaking about the NBX V3000, I was talking about our 2U NBX Chassis which holds the line card. When our phone system was installed I wasn't shown the 1U NBX V3000 "Brain". I thought everything was contained in the chassis. Long story, short, I restarted the 1U "Brain" and the system came back up with 5 minutes.
You got to check for some kind of interference in your area.
Maybe a cordless phone, etc...
You can try changing the channel your wireless router is using.
To do that, you must log in into the Main Menu inside the wireless router itself.
For instructions, look in the manual.
Is the printer connected via wireless? When I recently connected up a new wireless printer to my UVerse network, the printer manual said that establishing the first connection works better via an Ethernet cable directly to the Uverse router. After the printer is set up once, then I could remove the ethernet cable and connect to the printer via wireless from all my computers.
For all wireless PCs that were previously connected via wireless to dsl, you need to create a new network connection for each one, then enter the key that is listed on the side of your Uverse router when prompted. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to establish the connection.
I am amazed that ATT was so unhelpful on these issues. I was one of their first Uverse customers in Texas, and several times over the last years, techs would visit my house to solve a problem or hook something up, explaining to me as he went. That their helpful attitude is deteriorating is a real shame.
if ur sure that that it is the fn and f2 that u have to press simultaneously to turn on wireless capabilty. Make sure u press it long enough Right click on wireless network connection item in ur system bar and goto view available wireless connection and check what message is displayed there If it still says that " No wireless network were found , make sure wireless switch is on " Contact COMPAQ
........... If ur not sure whether it FN F2 , then try to FN & F5 or FN & F2
Check for the wireless security settings in your modem.. and check if your airport is connected properly, if it is connected properly, then you would get a valid ipaddress, try resetting the modem and reconfigure your wired and wireless settings, if possible , try to upgrade the latest firmware for your modem and then reconfig it..
