Was able to get the DVD door slightly open and cannot seethe dvd. It seems the player ate the DVD. It is not on the player.

If you've lost the book go to Sylvania's website where there will be easy to follow steps to either viewing the book for the device or downloading and printing it.
SOURCE: my sylvania dvd player is only saying open on the screen and not reading any dvd's.
The problem is the switch button (signaling if the Cover is Opened or Closed)
locacted under the circle hole near the edge of the DVD disc is
MISALIGNED with small pin-plastic (located near the edge of Back DVD Cover)
whenever you close the DVD cover.
So what I did, I enlarged the cirle hole using a soldering iron carefully
and the switch is now visible. You can either make the switch
permanently engaged to On by pressing down switch and put a tiny glue
OR applied glue a tiny screw washer to make the pin-plastic
bigger in diameter. This will surely pin down the switch to On to
signal that the DVD cover is closed. Good Luck.
