Rinnai heater turns itself off

Hi. I have a Rinnai Energy saver 551f heater that won't stay on. I've pulled the back off and vaccumed out all the dust. I turn the knob to on and wait the 10 secs and the gas lights and then it turns itself off again. It didn't come with instructions when I moved in. Please help

Dannizen,

You could have something as simple as an air hose off, or a piece of carbon on the flame sensor. Your problem could also be a gas valve , which is much more complicated. If you are handy with tools you could be able fix either quickly. If you’re not good with tools you will need to get some help. Either way you have to have some back ground info on your heater. Get in touch with Rinnai and get a service manual for your unit. They cost around $15. If you have to call a service guy, use the Rinnai web site to find an authorized service person. Don’t just let your fingers do the walking and get some guy who has no idea what a Rinnai is. You’re only asking for trouble there. Your unit is a little older so don’t be surprised if parts are hard to find.

Good luck,

I had the same continuing problem with 2 Rennai ventless heaters. I solved it by vacuuming out the dust and webs annually but that only worked on one unit this time. The other would stay lit for about 2 minutes, then the heat and pilot would turn off. Here's where I found a lasting solution:http://www.foreverhotwater.com/documents... On page 6 there's an illustration for cleaning the oxygen depletion sensor. Without disassembling the unit as shown, I just blew compressed air, angled to the left, through point #2. Problem solved - for a few more years I hope.

Rinnai ex 38 flashing code 99. I took the vent apart and there is no blockage. Unit has only been installed one month.

If it is only one month old doesn't do anything but call for warranty serving. ANY attempt to repair this will void the warranty.

These types of codes are not published on the internet (I looked all over) you need to contact Rinnai for help with this, but I don't think the Universal remote will work.

Kenwood Electric Oil Heater. Model EW7507EK. Can anyone tell me what color order of wires onto the circuit board? I feel like an silly for not taking a photo before starting the repair. F3-5

Look carefully on the board itself. Sometimes the wire color codes are labeled right next to the connector. If not, there may be some other letter codes and these should match the ones on the thermostat.

How do I fix my electric heater

  • sounds like the sensor or bulb that tells it to start the blower is defective/ im not familiar with your unit but this seems the most logical answer most furnace will not turn the blower on right away usually 90 seconds after the ignition but will also run longer to exhume any dangerous carbon monoxide. Electricic heaters are different. What type of unit do you have

Household steamer not heating at all

Well, first thing, just hook up service water and turn it on so the water heats up. Leave it long enough for water to get hot. If water doesn't get hot like should, then heating unit is malfunctioning. If it is getting hot after a while, you pull the handle trigger and water comes out, you have to wait long enough for the hot water to get to the head/trigger for it to go into the nozzles. If it was working ok before, and you were waiting for the water to heat, then then it should be working fine. Tell me what is happening if you wait for water to heat and get to the nozzles. I'm right here at my computer and we can get this thing going if the heater unit is good. Regards, Rigger.
