How do I get it to function? I changed batteries and still it doesn't turn on. I know when I had a problem with my cartridge video game system I was told to rub an eraser on the metal contacts. Your only hope is to open the case and wash out all the coffee with plain water. Don't forget to clean all the keys and switches under them. Dry and reassemble. This is a last chance procedure and may fail. Don't spill liquids on electronic gadgets as the result is either much work or must replace.

If the TI-84 SE does not function even though you are sure that the batteries are fresh, you can try manually resetting it by following steps: 1. Remove all of the AAA batteries from the graphing handheld. 2. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds. 3. Replace the batteries. 4. Turn on the unit. When you reset your graphing handheld, the contrast sometimes changes. If the screen is faded or blank, adjust the contrast by pressing 2nd and releasing up-arrow or down-arrow keys.
Do not attempt to turn the calculator on for several days. Remove the batteries. Once the electronics (battery compartment especially) is dry, you can attempt to power it back up and it may or may not work.
