I think avi is not supportedby your device, you have to convert it. I recomend to download Imtoo MPEG Encoder Platinum. it can convert almost everything.

I am attempting to add an AVI file and when i click on it to bring it in to vegas it freezes and will not respond. Can you please help me? I am running windows 7 and using vegas 8 platinum hd.

Hey there, things like that tend to happen with vegas, I know from experience. Anyways, if the file is playable in your media player (aka not corrupted) then you can just go ahead and open up good ol' Windows Movie Maker and drag in your AVI file. Without making any changes to it simply publish it, and you will have a brand new working WMV file that you can import into sony vegas with about the same quality.

Oh yeah also it seems that these days windows movie maker isn't standard on your PC anymore so you'll have to download it with Windows Live Essentials.

I hope I was able to help. If I was, please don't forget to rate my solution.

Media players cant play my .avi movies. i copied a .avi movie from my friend's pc using a flash drive and moved it into my personal pc but my media players wont play it. it did not say it was a missing...

I assume you are using the Windows Media Player to play the .avi formats on your OS Windows PC?

If this is the case, you do not have the necessary "codecs" to play the .avi files. Download & install the latest codec package ie K-Lite Mega Codec Pack or K-Lite Codec Pack @ http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

Hope it helps.

Sony Vegas Movie studio 8.0 - I put in pictures, video and music, but only the music plays. No video or photos appear when I play the video

Because Sony Vegas support WMV, MPG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4), MP4, MOV, ASF, SWF, FLV, etc. It doesn't support .avi format. So I want to know your video files format.

If ur video file format is .avi format or other video format that Sony Vegas doesn't support. We need convert AVI files into WMV, MPG, MP4, MOV supported by Sony Vegas. AVI to Sony Vegas is a good solution to import AVI to Sony Vegas for editing.

Video Converter Platinum is the most advanced AVI to Sony Vegas Converter software which can convert HD videos (inc.HD TS, HD MPG, HD MPEG, HD MP4, HD AVI), TOD, MOD, MTS, AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc.), QuickTime Video, 3GP, VOB, etc to Sony Vegas.

Difficulty playing DVD movie clips

Hi, it depends on the type of movie clips you have on the disk. its possible they maybe avi files. To play on most dvd players you would need to convert them to mpeg 2 which is the format for dvd movies, you can google for software, or if you need more help go to videohelp.com. Normski

Fit to disc

My apologies but I'm not familiar with the Ulead product you use but I hope what I've written below may be of some use

Fundamentally you need to re encode the AVi to a smaller file size. It seems odd to me that you have AVi files that are too big for a 4.7Gb DVD disc unless you are using a flashy front end. A simple way to convert with minimum input from you would be to use Any Video Convertor Professional to resize the AVi file to a more usable size. By decreasing either or both the Video and audio of the AVI within Any Video Convertor Professional this should sort your problem out. Just ensure you keep the aspect ratio the same if this is what you require.
There is a free version of Any Video Convertor
