I have created a number of mpeg-1 files at 768x576 for a presentation, which
we believe is the proper format aspect ratio, etc. for a conforming mpeg-1
file.
The files play fine on all machines that we have tested on EXCEPT a Compaq
M700 Armada running Win 2k. It happens to have win-dvd installed. When you
play the files you get a 30 or 40 pixel wide teal colored vertical stripe
just at the outside of the right side of the video frame but inside the
player.
I found a post that suggested renaming the win-dvd .ax files. I tried that
but it did not help. Has anyone an idea or any experience with this? Another
fella suggested replacing the mpeg drivers with the default Windows driver.
But I do not know how to do that.
Thanks a lot!

same file created identically with the exception being that we export it at
a smaller size plays fine. It seems to be the WIN-DVD software or the
decoder chip in the laptop that is not able to deal with the files. I will
try this. My client had requested files as "Large as possible".
I'll let you know what happens as I am curious why if this is a standrads
issue, it is not a problem on ALL computers??
Thanks
James

vertical bar could be a result of your having 48 pixels too many in the
horizontal resolution. Try re-encoding your MPEG files in the correct format and
you should have no trouble.
Good luck,
