I assume it has a pilot. Try blowing out the pilot area with compressed air or CO2. Then relight the pilot.

Dust can cover the pilot combustion air inlet and cause it to pull away from the safety generator or thermocouple. Its called an oxygen depletion arrangement on some space heaters. I assume your Domestic Water Heater has this setup as well. Even if not the thermocouple is not getting all then heat from the flame. If this doesn't work get back to me here. We'll try 1 more thing.

If this helps you please grade me accordingly. GOOD LUCK

Hot water not going, wanting to know how to turn it back on?

You have a real good description of your thermostat--
I wonder why you suspect the thermostat to be causing your 'No Hot Water' problem?

First of all, I have to be sure I understand your real problem--
When you say you want to 'turn the Hot Water back on', (It is 'Not going')
Do you mean you want a boiler (maybe in the basement?) -- or maybe a zone valve in a Hot Water, Baseboard heating system-- to be heating your house/ room/ apartment?

I would suppose, if you have the thermostat set higher than the room temperature, that it should be giving a 'call' to the boiler (or Baseboard Hot Water Heater..) to ignite a fire, and heat the waer, and then heat your room, or house.

So-- Could the problem be in the Device heating the Hot Water?

Please tell us more about your heating system-- what type of fuel, -- What happens when you lower the Thermostat, and then raise it-- What used to happen, and what does NOT now happen, etc.

Tell us more clues-- maybe we can help remotely like this-

I have a Honeywell ST499A/ST699B "Central Heating Microelectronic Time Controller" managing the operation of my house boiler. The time controls are set properly. PROBLEM: If I want either hot water or...

I have an old Honeywell ST499A/ST699B thermostat. It still works OK but when we have a power cut I have to re-programme everything. Presumably this is because the battery needs replacing. I cannot find a way of opening the control box to get into the unit to replace the battery and in any case I’m not sure if the battery is renewable?

Control Rheem water heater temperature based on schedule

This is probably not what you really want to do. It will use more energy to reheat the tank than maintain a full tank of water.

Zone valve on my Burnham gas furnace keeps running hot continually. How do I manually shut it off? All wires look good and are connected. The other 2 zones work fine.

ASSUMING THAT YOU HAVE HOT WATER SYSTEM,IT IS TIME TO THINK ABOUT REPLACING THE ZONE VALVE.IF YOU DISCONNECT THE ZONE VALVE,THAT AREA WILL NOT GET
ANY HEAT.IF YOU CAN GET THROUGH REST OF THE HEATING SEASON WITHOUT IT,TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.THEN DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO JUST THAT VALVE.BE CAREFUL TO PUT WIRE NUTS ON ANY EXPOSED BARE WIRES.YOU CAN THEN RESTORE POWER TO THE MAIN SYSTEM.

Heat pump that just blows cool air

is the condenser operating? what is the outdoor temperature? A heat pump is a cooling system with a reverse gear, most reversing valves which make this possible fail to the heat mode so it is not likely to be the problem. You should have either gas or electric back-up heat. If you switch to emergency heat do you get warm air? Really need to find out more to make an informed guess at your problem, the simple stupid would be is the circuit breaker to the condensing unit possibly tripped or shut off?

Cant turn heating off

do you have a separate or built in programmer? if itis separate ISOLATE MAINS undo the screws on the bottom of programmr and checkthat ther are no loose wires ( make a note of where they go for future ref. ). If wires OK check that the valves are working switchoff HW and Heating switch one on at a time and check that each valve is opening and closing and that the boiler and pump fires up ( it could b the micro-switch in the valve is broke! )
