Here are some general steps you can try to program your remote control:
Determine the brand and model of your remote control. This information should be available in the user manual or on the manufacturer's website.
Turn on your Samsung TV.
Press and hold the "Code Search" button on your remote control until the indicator light turns on.
Press the "TV" button on your remote control.
Enter the code for your Samsung TV. You can find a list of remote control codes in the user manual or on the manufacturer's website. Alternatively, you can try entering codes until you find one that works.
Press the "Power" button on your remote control. If the TV turns off, the code has been programmed successfully. If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 3-5 with a different code.
If none of the codes work, it is possible that your remote control is not compatible with your Samsung TV. In this case, you may need to purchase a new remote control or contact Samsung customer support for further assistance.
DON'T buy a universal remote. No one does that any more. You buy the original or a facsimile remote which is an exact copy of the original with no programming. $20 only.

Use Samsung Blu-Ray Remote Control To Control Your TV
You can use your own SAMSUNG remote but some of the guide options and dvr buttons may not come across. If your remote allows you to 'map' the buttons you could circumvent the issue.
Another suggestion would be the universal remote by harmony. great gadget. pricey though.
You cannot reprogram the samsung remotes. I just installed three samsung tv's on the same wall. I used a harmony 900 remote. It has a rf receiver with an IR blaster two IR emitters. You can designate each emitter to a specific device in the remote. I used the main remote IR for the main tv, The blaster for the a/v receiver, blue ray, ect. Then I used each of the emitters for a tv. I can control each of the tv's independently with no interference.
Try this. Remove the batteries from the recorder's remote control and hold down the POWER button on it for 30 seconds. Then replace the batteries with fresh ones. It should work fine after that. If not, the remote control may be defective. You can purchase a new remote control at www.samsungparts.com
