Needle hits the bobbin holder and doesn't grab the bobbin thread

It is like the bobbin holder is in the wrong position. The needle keeps hitting the metal part of the holder and won't grab the bobbin thread. It doesn't catch up the thread as normal.

Also note that using a red band Singer needle will cause this exact symptom. The Singer needle is about 1.5 mm too long for use in any other machine. Ensure that you're using a standard needle. (Schmetz and Klasse are good examples.)

Your machine may also be out of time, which would require professional repair.

Check you have the right size bobbin case the gap where the needle enters should be 13mm approx at the widest point. A lot of other pfaff bobbin cases seem to fit and can be easily be mistaken. I have two pfaffs and have accidentally mixed the cases and had a similar problem.

On the right side you have two knobs to make adjustments. The lower knob will move the needle left or right so it won't hit the bobbin holder.

My needle keep hitting something in the bobbin area, I have taken the bobbin holder out hopefully replaced it right, but doesn't work. there is another wire and at the end is a sensor does that just...

If the bobbin has been inserted correctly and the needle keeps hitting something, check the bobbin and bobbin holder for damage (bent or missing parts) If there is no damage to either of these then the timing of the machine may need to be adjusted. This is usually best left to someone with sewing machine repair experience.

The needle keeps hitting the bobbin holder, it has actually nicked it. I cannot sew, the bobbin thread just jams up in a bundle and the machine jams

Check to make sure the needle is up all the way into the clamp. If the bobbin case now has sharp edges from the impact. polish away the sharpness with an emery board or simular. Once a needle is hit it canot be used again so always use a fresh needle.

My DB2-B797 suddenly has needle breaking because needle is hitting bobbin. I need help with technical specs and needle positioning. PLEASE

Hi
First thing to check is are you using the correct needle, if it is too long this will hit the bobbin holder.
If the needle is the correct one, for some reason your timing is out or the needle bar has dropped lower than it should be.
I can't explain on here how to re-time as it is complicated.
If the timing is out it is very unusual as the working parts are locked in position.
Take out the thread, remove the needle plate and turn the machine over by hand watching the needle and see if it is actually hitting the bobbin or bobbin holder.

Bobbin holder seems to be broke and needle breaks

Hello,
Here are several things to try.

* When you insert your new needle, make sure it’s positioned correctly (usually with the flat side away from the bobbin, but consult your manual), that it goes all the way into the holder, and that the screw is securely tightened.

If there doesn’t seem to be a problem with your needle, try the following:

* Check your pressure foot and make sure it’s attached securely.

* Change your pressure foot Your pressure foot may be bent, causing your needle to hit it.

* Don’t sew over pins a needle that hits a pin can break. Always remove the pins from your fabric before they reach your needle.

* Don’t pull your fabric as you sew. You could be bending your needle back, causing it to hit your needle plate instead of going into the hole. Just guide your fabric, letting it feed on its own.

* Check your needle plate and make sure it's securely in position.

* Change your needle plate. If you’ve been using a straight stitch needle plate (a plate with a small hole, often used for sewing fine, delicate fabrics), switch to a needle plate with a wider hole.

* Check the position of your needle. Sewing machines with zigzag capability allow you to adjust the position of your needle – right, left, or center. If your needle is not positioned correctly, it may be hitting your needle plate or pressure foot.

* Un-thread your machine and remove your bobbin. Clean any loose thread or lint out of your
bobbin case. Re-thread your machine, reinsert and re-thread your bobbin.

* Change your bobbin. There could be a nick along the edge of your bobbin spool that’s catching your thread as you sew.

Also, before you start to sew a seam, hold the upper and bobbin thread tails. Hold them back
and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting
caught in your machine.

I hope these solutions help you.

Bobbin holder problem. Needle hits bobbin holder and doesn't grab the bobbin thread. It will break the needles if persisted.

Is the needle all the way up in the holder? Have you checked the timing with the bobbin and the needle. Look in your manual for needle timing

Top & bobbin thread will not sew

Most likely the needle is in backwards. Weird I know, I have no idea why but if the needle is in wrong, it either hits the bobbin and breaks or won't grab the thread at all. Good luck.
