I CANNOT FORMAT AND INSTALL A NEW OS

THE LAPTOP IS RESTARTING WHEN IT ON.THEN I WENT FOR REINSTALLING THE OS.BUT I CANT DO IT.IT SHOW SOME ERRORS.THAT IS ERROR CODE-0123,MSG:ERROR CODE 2000-0123.LOCATION=DIMM-B

You RAM module may be faulty or needs reseating in the DIMM slot B. Reseat the both RAM modules then :-
Check the POST information as it boots up, the amount of install RAM should equal to the installed RAM (the total RAM could be 256Mb or 512Mb or 1Gb depends how much memory you purchased with the laptop) less 64 Mb or 128 Mb RAM which is used for video memory (depends upon your video card requirements).
Once you fix your RAM problems you should be able to reinstall Windows.

Press F12 when Dell screen appears and then select Boot from CD/DVD and follow the prompts

Hi, I am owning a dell inspiron 1525 for the last 3 years now. Few days ago when i was formatting my laptop to install a new OS, i accidentally deleted a partition and it became unallocated. My hard disk...


Startup from the windows 7 disk as if you were going to reinstall. Choose 'advanced' in the section where you sort out the disk to install to, and partition the unallocated space. Then exit out, do not continue to the format and install stage.
Once you have restarted into your original windows, you can format the new partition as normal.
Having said that, 10gb is pretty small for an OS partition, 15 0r 20gigs would be better and you can swap some space from your new partition to the OS partition. There are plenty of tools you can use to do this with at www.download.com.

Please format again your laptop on new xp cd .if cant solve the problem
Then check your cd or DVD room.

Error Code 2000-0146


I know this is not what you will want to hear, but according to the Dell Support site, error code 2000-0146 indicates: DST Log contains previous error(s). This means that the drive is failing and needs to be replaced. ASAP is best. I would suggest that you backup anything on the current drive that want to move to the new drive. If the computer is under warranty, contact Dell Support and they should ship you a new drive. If there is no warranty remaining, you will need to purchase a similar type of drive. Once you have the new drive, install it and then reinstall your software. It should go more quickly is you can use the recovery CDs that were shipped with the computer originally.

Insataling windows xp problms


i believ ur using 32 bit operating system.change the boot sequence by pressing F12 at restart and select cd/dvd rom option while the windows cd still inside the drive,,format the c drive completely{if possible format the whole hdd} and then reinstall the windows os xp..i hope it will work fine,,just follow the screen prompts very very carefully and u will find everything mentioned,,best of luck

System reinstall


Go into the Bios settings and locate (restart on all errors) and disable it.Then do a normal install.

A few things you can do.reinstall os.repair os or checkdisk all of which require xp disk(or whatever os disk )
to check disk.boot up from os disk(xp,whatever)
screen displays install or repair
select repair which then takes you you a dos platform (black screen c:/promt
type in chkdsk (exactly as is)
system will run program and if any errors try to repair.
To repair system:-boot up with os disk
in choices install or repair select install
after diagnose system stsate os already exist install or repair ...
select repair..if you want to reinstall fresh copy choose install instead of repair.
repair does as it says and leaves previosly installed software intact..
install wipes all data and installs new copy which has to be registered again within 30 days.

Problem with booting my device


seems your file system was corrupted. try to boot your laptop through cd..installation would show the partition details. here just check all partition are in gud file system. if it shows like "unknown" u need to format the partition. if u have any important data in that partition just connect that hdd as a secondary disk and try to copy the data's

when you removed vista then you install Xp your Hardware drivers are not match so you need to install porper harware drivers..

Installation problem


Replace the hard drive with a new one. IT takes a standard IDE 2.6" laptop drive - I would try newegg.com they have pretty good prices probably about $100 for a 120gb drive.

The hard drive is under the 3x4" cover on the bottomn of the machine.

Hp lap top will not reboot, restart nor retore


No power or computer does not turn on. Issue: No power or computer does not turn on.
Cause: No power from the computer can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
  1. Connections not connected properly.
  2. Third-party hardware.
  3. Bad power cable.
  4. Incorrect power supply.
  5. Bad battery.
  6. Bad power supply, power button, and/or power board or inverter.
Solution: Connections not connected properly Verify that the power connection is connected properly to the wall and the back of the computer. If the connections appear to be connected properly, attempt to disconnect and reconnection both ends of the cable. If you have a power strip (surge protector) or switch used to turn everything on at once, temporarily disconnect the computer from that switch and connect that cable directly to the wall. This will help verify that the strip or switch is not bad. Verify that the outlet works by connecting a different component to that switch.
Third-party hardware If additional hardware has been recently added to the computer it is recommend that you temporarily disconnect that device or devices from the computer to verify they are not preventing your computer from turning on. Note: If the computer was working fine before you added the new hardware, removing the third-party hardware did not resolve the issue, and the computer is not beeping but is turning on, please see our POST troubleshooting document CH000607.
Bad Power cable Verify that the cable supplying your computer is not bad or damaged by using another power cable. If you have a standard CRT monitor, this cable can be used in place of the computer power cable. If you have a portable computer or laptop, when the cables are plugged into the laptop you should see a power light or battery charge light. If this light is seen, this is a good indication that the power cable is good.
Incorrect power supply If you are building your own computer or if the computer has never turned on since you purchased it, it is possible you are using a power supply that does not supply enough power and/or the incorrect type of power supply. Verify your power supply meets the requirements of your motherboard and processor.
Bad battery If your computer is a laptop or portable computer that utilizes a battery for mobility it is possible that the battery may be causing your issue.
  • If your computer powers on when the cable is connected to the portable computer but not when it is disconnected, we recommend you purchase a new battery.
  • If your computer does not power on when the battery is connected and when the power cable / charger cable is connected, try removing the battery and seeing if the computer can power on with only the power cable connected. If no power is still received, skip to the final section.
Bad Power Supply, power button, and/or power board or inverter If, after following the above sections, your computer still receives no power, it is likely that a hardware component in the computer has failed. It is most likely that the power supply has failed. If you do not plan on replacing the power supply yourself or if you have a portable computer, we recommend having the computer serviced by your computer manufacturer or a local computer repair shop. If you have a desktop computer and plan on trying to repair the computer yourself, we recommend you replace the components in your computer in the below order.
  1. First open the computer and verify the power connections. You may also wish to consider disconnecting the main power cable and reconnecting the power cable to make sure it has not become loose. Also verify the power button cable is correctly connected to the Motherboard.
  2. Replace the power supply with a new power supply.
  3. Replace the motherboard.
