When you start the computer do you see Dell logo and proper screen?
If the answer is "Yes" then screen is ok, then you need to uninstall and reinstall driver for video
If answer is "NO" then there is hardware problem and need to contact dell.

All the best

Do this. On a bland spot on your screen right click. Left click on the item "screen resolution". On the next screen click on "orientation" and select landscape. It should return your screen to normal.

Windows Vista does not come on the screen when I turn on my computer.

Try removing the battery and using the laptop only with wall power.

I have Dell 2320L bought 3 days ago, When ever there is white screen, sometimes it happens that the monitor flickers not too much but it does which distracts my attention. Any solution ?

You might have a problem with the monitor. Get the computer and conect it to another monitor. Then on the desktop, right click on the desktop and go to properties.
In the properties, go settings, then go to advanced, then go to monitor and on the monitor tab, look for monitor settings, and select either "use default hardware settings" or 60Hz and select the box that say hide modes that this monitor can not display. Tha should solve your problem....

Just got new laptop, followed the prompts to start screen saying "preparing your system etc, stopped and rebooted then logged on, then the same screen came up and has been going for about 3...

This screen appears when you have successfully gone through the Windows Setup Wizard entering Computer name, User details, Network settings and Seting the Time and Date.

If you get the problem of the screen appearing for the past 3 hours. I suggest you try and use the Laptop Recovery CD as by using this, this will just recover the system back to origional factory default settings and will not cause any problems with your system.

Try this and itshould work.

This is for Windows XP
1. Click on Start then Control Panel.
2. If control panel is set at Classic View, then double-click on the Display icon which is shown below:
Then go to Step 3.
Click on Appearance and Themes and then click on Display.
3. A box will pop up. Click on the Settings tab.

4. Click on Advanced.

Change the DPI setting to Normal size (96 DPI). If you have the value set on anything else, text on the HUD-1 will look jumbled on the screen.
Click OK and your computer will ask you to reboot your computer. Click Yes.

White screen

White screen usually means the display itself (not the inverter, but the panel) has gone bad.Could go in and check the ribbon cable connection to the mainboard and see what happens. More than likely you need to replace the panel. Sorry.

If the squares are gone in safe mode it's safe bet that it's your graphics card driver. Uninstall drivers in add/remove programmes and re-boot your pc and see if the correct driver is re-installed. If at all possible it's best to use the driver from your notebook's manufacturer web site.
