Question about Hunter Fan Company 7-day programmable thermostat

1 Answer

I set temp to 74 and stop at 70 and decresing.

I have to turn off and turn on again heat and then after it reach two degree and stop. I have the Hunter model 44860 and I have programmed every day (air and heat). For some reason, the heat shuts off at 68 degrees when the program calls for 70 degrees.

I've reprogrammed everything a few times just to make sure it wasn't me but it still does this.

What is the problem?

The only thing I can think of other than being just old and worn out is that by design it may not be set to run but so much at a time. Has this always done this since you have had it? It may be needing calibration. One thing you can try is to set it at 2 degrees higher than you want it and then it would shut off at the temp you actually want.

My thermostat show 74 degrees as a current room temp...but we have it set at 70 and it's probably 65 in the house. ..the only way it will turn on is if I put it 74 or 75????

The old white-rogers thermostats with a mercury switch are adjustable. snap the face off. In the center you will find a plastic slot screw. set the indicator to the actual room temp.
Other type ? Replace the thermostat

UNIT KEEPS FREEZING UP. WE HAVE THAWED IT OUT MANY TIMES AND SAME THING HAPPENS. IS THERE A RESET BUTTON?

have you checked the filter ? do you have the temp set to low? are you trying to cool to big an area? shut it down again and let it thaw out. set the stat to mid range and trun it back on. close all unused rooms. when the unit cycles of and its still not cool enough turn the tstat down unilt it comes back on and leave it there.. unil the rom temp reaches 72-74 degree. thats the best set point .. you might be about to get it down to 70. but my bet is 1 dirty filter. and set temp to low.

Normal settings 70 heating 74 to 76 cooling, I try to leave my cooling a 76 and keep it there. 76 degrees feels good if its 95 or hotter out side and the lower you set it the more it will cost.

Furnance will not start until room temp is at least 5 degrees below set temp ie temp set at 70 , wont start till it reaches 66 or 65 degrees

themostat is bad, or the heat anticipator on the stat is bad, which means you still need a new stat

Fan does not reverse. the wireless remote does not have a button to reverse the fan nor the chain pulls cause the fan to reverse direction. is there such a thing as technical support for hampton fans ?

Only the remote decides when the fan reverses. Weird, I know. Depending on room temperature and selected temperature (on the remote), the fan will reverse direction. For example: If you set the remote temperature (set temp.) for 74 degrees and the actual room temperature is 70, the fan will reverse to bring the warmer air (which is always closer to the ceiling) down and warm the room until the set temperature is reached, then the fan turns itself off. The remote monitors room temp and selected settings and repeats the cycle.

It is 110 degrees out, we have set the central air for 70 but we can not seem to get the temp under 74 degrees, the unit is always running is it just too hot out for the unit to keep up, or is something...

You probably hit the nail on the head. You are currently getting 36 degrees difference in temp. That's pretty darn good. Most units would struggle with that. Running all the time is usually an indication that the unit could be somewhat undersized too. 74 degrees is not that bad under those conditions.

When the thermostat calls for heat it should run until the room reaches the temperature setting then shut off. Is the blower motor running and can you feel air coming out of the vents? It sounds like the blower is either not running or putting out enough air to keep the furnace heating. The blower moves the heat from the heat exchanger to the room, if it can't remove enough heat from the heat exchanger there is a limit switch that will shut the burner off if it gets to hot and that's what it sounds like is happening.

Sounds like the variances are not set right. if I am understand you. You set the thermostat to 74 and the heater shuts off at 70? If that is correct then the variances are wrong or you have placed the T stat in a bad location where it is getting heat from a vent, wall where there is a appliance or in a very drafty location
