Cant run avg antivirus software

You might have another antivirus interfering with AVG

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart

you might only tick in one box to automatically fix files
have no input while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may further damage your computers Operating System and Hard Drive http://download.cnet.com/jetclean/3000-18512_4-75627788.html JetClean tidies your registry, gets rid of junk files, deletes broken shortcuts, and attempts to give your computer that like-new feel again.

Then reinstall your copy of AVG
Hope this helps

Hi, my laptop gives the continous message of "Relevant Knowledge" has stopped working" How do i resolve this?

  1. The removal of Relevant Knowledge is pretty simple compared to other forms of spyware/adware. First, go to the Start Menu.

  2. 2

Select Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. For Vista users, select Control Panel -> Uninstall a Program (it's in small print under Programs). Search for Relevant Knowledge in the list.

  3. 3

Single-click on RelevantKnowledge, and click Uninstall up near the top. It will take you through the process, thus ridding you of your spyware.

  4. 4

Next, open your Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete once. This will either open your Task Manager, or give you the option to open Task Manager. Make sure Relevant Knowledge is not on the list - if it is, End Process.

  5. 5

Restart your computer. Relevant Knowledge should be gone! If it isn't gone, try this process over again.

My compaq mini 110 was infected with THINK POINT VIRUS. i downloaded a malware scanning program which seemingly worked for about a day...with an abundance of pop ups and self restarts. as i researched...

Hello
The re-installation of windows is however recommended, but you can try with follwing procedure to remove Think point Virus:-
1. Restart your computer in SafeMode - After Power-On the computer, just before Windows start, press F8 - From the selections, Select SafeMode
2. End ThinkPoint Process - Press Ctrl+Alt+Del from the keyboard to open Task Manager - Go to process Tab - Select 'hotfix.exe' and click on End Process - Close Task Manager
3. Remove Registry entries that the threat added. You MUST BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST. - Click Start > Run - Type in the field, regedit - Navigate and look for the registry entries mentioned above and delete if necessary
4. Delete malicious files that the threat added: - Base on the given location above, browse and delete the file - If no location is given, click Start>Search> and search for the files. - If cannot be deleted, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access Task Manager, see if the file is running in the process. If it is, select the file and click End Process. Perform file delete again.
5. Scan computer with Antivirus Program - Update antivirus program - Scan computer and delete all detected threats.
Hope it will helps, if so do rate the solution
Good Luck

Fuvirus!!!!! help me provide me with the simplest solution pls.

Since FUvirus is visible in the processes tab of the Task Manager, this can be deleted or disabled manually.

First of, open the Task Manager by right-clicking the TaskBar, click "Processes" tab on the task manager and locate "FUvirus.exe" from the processes lists. Make sure that "Show all Processes from all users" is selected. Once FUvirus.exe is located, right-click and then "End Process Tree" and close the Task Manager.

Now delete the FUvirus from the Registry, follow the instructions:
Open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FUvirus.exe." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete".

You also need to search the similar file on your computer, this generally happens, this virus replicates and creates several similar files with the similar name randomnly. Search for "FUvirus.exe" and delete whatever you find with that name. Once you are done, restart your computer and check whether it's gone or not. I would also recommend you to run full virus scan, there are several free antivirus which could easily detect and repair FUvirus like, Avira free, Avg free, Avast free, etc... you can download them from their respective websites.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Note: Don't ever install Multiple Antivirus on a system, this may cause system instability or even system failure.

How do i get rid of think point?

Hello,
1. Restart your computer. Once the ThinkPoint window comes press Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Escape. You should now see the Windows Task Manager screen. Click on the Processes tab. Then click and highlight hotfix.exe and click End Task. If it asks you "Are you sure you want to terminate the process?" click yes. This will close the ThinkPoint program.
2. While in Windows Task Manager, click the File -> "New Task (Run...)" button on the bottom right. Type inexplorer.exe and click OK. Your desktop and icons should start up as normal.
3. Download malware removal tool and scan the computer. You can use Malwarebytes antimalware, superantispyware or spyware doctor.

Computer has viruses which might be why it has a the blue screen

Try entering safe mode and doing the virus scan:
  • Switch on your PC
  • Before the Windows Logo screen appears press F8 to get the startup options menu
  • Chose Safe Mode
  • Once your computer boots, run AVG and let it remove all the viruses. Reboot and it should go into Windows as normal. You might have to rerun the scan a few times to get rid of everything but it should do the job.

My son has installed avg7.5 but i want it off. i tried uninstalling it but it said there is a technical fault and said to come on here could you tell me how to get it off or do it yourself please thanks...

First off: Why Uninstall AVG in the first place: AVG is the BEST AV program availible ! Why ? Because it's fast, easy to update, reliable and I'm using it since the day I got my PC 5-6 years ago. But nevertheless, as requested:

1.) Stop AVG services: To do this click on start, then on run and type in "Services.msc" without the quotes. A new windows will appear, with all the services running on the computer. Now all you have to do is to locate, right-click and "stop" AVG services.

2.) Disable startup options for AVG programs and services: To do this type in "Msconfig" in Run just as the "Services.msc" previously. Remember not to include the quotes. Navigate to the "Services" and the "Startup" tab and "uncheck" any AVG entries you can find.

3.) Close AVG open program files: Press ctrl-alt-del on your keyboard to open the task manager. In the task manager, navigate to the processes Tab. You will find all running processes on the computer. Sort the first coloumn by "image name" then right click and end avg tasks, usually named avg?????

4.) Deleting AVG from your machine: To do this, Navigate to this folder(standard): "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\" . Then select all the files in that folder and click "Shift-del" without the quotes. Confirm deletion. If error comes up, remove the first file from your selection by cntr+left click on the most upper file. Then shift-del again, until the next file "errors". Continue this process until you have reached the end. The reason for some files not wanting to be deleted is simple: Those files are still open, reside in memory and thus cannot be deleted !

5.) Restart your machine; Navigate to the AVG folder again after restart, and delete the remaining AVG files which are all closed now. Remeber to remove the $VAULT.AVG$ hidden folders, as they are the avg vaults.

6.) You have removed all traces and movement of AVG from your machine :(
