Single private corded phone with private line picking upcrosstalk
I have a single, private corded phone with a private line (vs the party line). I consistently get clicks, or the person I am talking to hears clicks when I may not on my side. I also hear their phone makeing those sounds that occur when one is dialing, but it is not me. I consistently get cross talk-sometimes mumbled sounding, other times sounds very clear. Usually 2 women but at times a man. One time after talking loudly into the phone to see if they could hear me, I heard a very audible click and then a busy signal. Other times I just hear a click, chide them by repeating back a vocal click or that I hear you, and then I hear an audible click. This usually happens after 4:30. Before that most often it sounds like I am talking to the other person who has their phone on speaker phone mode, when I know they do not. Both them and I have wondered about all of this. One gentle man was somewhat concerned with all of the clicks he was hearing. I called the phone company, they checked the lines and it was clear, but they did hear a beep when I heard a click speaking to them, though they said they did not hear any crosstalk on their end. I have upgraded my phone to a corded new one in the gigahertz ringer, but it has no channel button. The new phone did not elimanate the problem. If I spring for one which has a channel button, will this help? The phone person said it may be a CB bleeding into the the frequency range, but why would I then hear the phone number dialing? I have a filter attached to the phone line in the apartment. At one time the whole community was party line, and their is a lot of wiring still, and a lot of community police here due to gangs and drugs. There was a trust involved, but now I am thinking that maybe it is still a case of is and not was with that trust....... . (My car alarm is still being set off by people who thought I took assests when it was NOT me, but another ..........) How to correct this would be most appreciated. I am at a loss on how to proceed.

Lots of different devices may be interfering with the transmit side of your phone. In today's world of heavy radio frequency usage by consumer devices it is hard to know exactly what may be interfering with your cordless phone. Even some cell phones could be causing the interference. The 6.0 gig phones do not have that problem.
If you have more than one phone line which I assume that you do -if one party has not completely hung up the handset after putting someone on hold when you pick it up on your end you will hear that beeping noise that you are talking about. Have them pick back up the line while you are on it and replace the handset again on thier phone to disconnect completely.
I am in Delhi....these phones can be repaired at a very low cost...where are the phones? BTW do yu have the manual? If yes can you share with me either scanned or point me to the web locator. Thanks in Advance

I have two of these phones. The feature set is really good. The only thing missing is a "Voice Mail" indicator light. You have to pick up the line and listen for the intermittent dial tone.
The other problem is that they are not very reliable. Both of my originals developed problems with the answering machine portion, but were replaced under warranty. Have had issues with one of the replacements also and now use it with an external two-line answering machine.
Regarding your problem, there are a few possibilities. Not all phone cords are created equal. The cord that goes from the wall to the phone uses a plug/jack called RJ-11. An RJ-11 connector has room for four contacts. The contacts themselves are just gold-plated wires.
Take a very close look at all of the cords you are using, as there are two different types that look nearly identical. A single line cord will only have two wires inside, and the RJ-11 connector will only have the two center pins filled with the gold contacts. A two-line cord has four wires and the RJ-11 connectors will have four gold contacts at each end.
Once you are sure that your cords are all two-line (four gold contacts on the RJ-11 connectors), the next thing is to understand how two different lines are put into one cord.
The first (main) line will occupy the two center contacts. To add a second line, they need to connect to the two outer contacts. It may be that you need to re-wire the wall jack on one of the lines.
If they are both wired to the two center contacts, the splitter cannot do its job. The way to tell this is to make sure that each wall receptacle will give a dial tone when plugged into a single line telephone. If that is the case you will need to re-wire one of the wall outlets.
You would need to remove the wires from the center two slots on one line and insert them into the outer two slots. Take a look at what you have with regards to cords and the results of your tests with a single line phone. If you need to rewire a wall outlet, I can walk you through that.
Try unplugging the phoen and plug a single line telephone into the port. If it doesn't work, you have your answer. The voice pair, which will use the inner pair of a 4 conductor cable needs to be working before the multi-line set will work. I'm guessing you have the data path but not the voice. The phone looks like it works, but there is no sound.
Each of the modular jacks at the cabinet will accept a single line telephone. I don't think you can "bridge" a phone on 12 year old software, but if there is a spare jack, it will work with a plain old cordless phone. Plug one in, dial 10, and read what extension you have. Here's a manual for a 4.1 Partner system to help you program the ringing. Programming is done from the display phone at extension 10 or 11.
After you find the extension, save yourself the trouble and go to page 447 of the attached pdf. It details how to set the Automatic line preference and ringing of the cordless. The difference is that you will select your lines AFTER the intercom as in ** LIC RIC 1 2 3 4, or 4 3 2 1. This is important! You'll then be able to dial "9" to get an outside line in forward or reverse order and still call internally.
If you find you don't get an outside line when you dial "9", then keep reading the manual, you need to put your lines in groups.
If you want to use the conference feature built into the phone, you need to have two telephone lines. You can't conference (3-way) with a single line.
If you have a single phone line with 3-way calling service provided by your telephone service provider, follow their instructions. Normally the procedure is to call party 1, press the "flash" key on the phone to get a second dial tone, call party 2, then flash again to conference. But you need to have the service.
Are you talking about a special speakerphone that is not made by Toshiba? This would be a single line phone device not a proprietary Toshiba phone and you would need a special card in your system that can handle single line devices. You may already have one that has a free port on it.
However, it does sound like you would need to find help from a local phone system installation company. You cannot plug a single line phone into any phone port on your system. A special wire would need to be run just for that phone and the system would need to be re-programmed for that port. If you need a single line card it will be even more complicated.
