Question about Motorola Mobility Moto Q

Motorola Q freezes up

Lately, my Q has frozen up when trying to text or e-mail. I will get about 27 characters into the message and the keyboard freezes. In trying to open a new application, it will take the phone an extraordinarily long time to open, or else it will just freeze and not open.

I took it to the Sprint Store, and their solution was to replace the phone...at a $55 cost to me. Has anyone run into this problem, and is there a fix without spending that kind of money?

My moto q has started doing the same thing. It started about a week ago. When I type in a message it will stop keying letters and just put spaces. When I try to open my texts, contacts, or anything it will freeze. Sometimes I can't even make a call or answer one that is coming in. I don't know what to do about it. I am beginning to hate this phone!!

My phone will completely freeze now when I try to do anything with it, it started with text messaging now its for everything. I ended up getting a go phone, and i turned on my Q without a SIM card in it, and it works fine, no lag or anything but if I put the SIM card back in to it, it starts freezing again.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Unable to acess phone or type messages correctly

Have you tried re-setting? Remove you battery and hold down end call button for 20 seconds. Release it and then put battery back in and wait for the phone to reprogram itself. This may take a while, so be patient.

Deleting Texts

The only way i found to fix this problem is to do a hard reset.

In your phone select start > settings > security > master clear

there is a password required to perform this operation: the default is 0-0-0-0 (zero, zero, zero, zero).

Texting issue

I do not know if you can fix it on your own. But before taking your phone in, try a few things first. First, try removing your battery and putting it back in to your phone. Second, replace the battery. Third, read the owners manual for proper battery maintenance. Fourth, remove any programs that you have added and the replace them one at a time. Good luck.

Unable to text photos

Photos can be sent by MMS and e-mail but not SMS. If you want to send photos you will need to find out if the program supports MMS or if it only supports SMS. Look at the programs options to see if you can set it to use MMS. SMS is a very simple system, you can only send text with no formatting options and your messages can be no longer than 160 characters (although this is not entirely true, some carriers will transport a message over 160 characters but you cannot guaranty the phone/device you're sending to can receive it and if it does it may show the whole thing or may split it into 160 character messages, either way your carrier WILL charge every 160 characters, in full or part, as a separate message). As you haven't said what program it is that's about as much as we can say at this point so if this doesn't help message back.

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows. Paul Sager 2335 Solutions July 14, 2010 I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q. What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence. This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware. The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.) If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times. My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone. I hope that helps.
