Dishwasher does not clean dishes and leaves spots on everything!!
We bought this a year ago and have tried various liquid and powder detergents and are unable to get dishes, glasses, silverware clean and free of spots. Even the door on the dishwasher has a spotty residue of build up on it.

Re: dishwasher does not clean dishes and leaves spots on...
The problem is hard water that is leaving the spots. There is a fantastic product out called the dishasher filtration system. It filters the water going into your dishwasher and works amazing. It is very affordable and very easy to install. You can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com.

Check the temperature of the water. Should be 120 deg. Also are you using powder or liquid? Liquid dissolved a lot quicker that powder. So liquid is actually better to use. Try running the hot water at the sink until it gets hot before running the dishwasher. Also you may want to try mixing half cascade liquid and half lemon shine.
run some calcium lime and scale remover throught the unit on an empty wash cycle just to get rid of any build up that may be there.
turn the rinse aid down to about half way.
also check the phosphours content of you washing agent.
there is a lot of factor involved with leaving film on the dishes, it could also be residual soap content that is sticking to your dishes.
reduce the amount of soap a little.does not matter if it is liquid or powder.
once every three months you need to run cleaner through the machine.
last thing but very important make sure the incoming water temp i no lowe rthan 120 degrees.
the problem is hard water. there is a product at www.dishwasherfilter.com that filters out these hard minerals that cause those spots and leaves your dishes crystal clear every time. it is very affordable and has a money back guarantee. you will love this product and your dishes again.
Using liquid detergent is the worst detergent to use. One possible solution to your problem could be as follows...pour 2 cups of vinegar in to the tub and run it on the hottest longest cycle with no dishes in it. May need to do this several times (3 to 4). This will clean the residue out and what ever "gunk" may be in the internal parts. Use Only powder detergent. No gel, no liquid and no tabs. These 2 cause a build-up over a period of time of use and reduce the performance of your machine. This should take care of your problem.
Either your dishwasher is not getting the water hot enough to dissolve the powder, or you need to switch brands. Try a liquid/gel type of dishwasher detergent. Try stopping the washer a few minutes after you start a wash cycle. Open the door -- if there is a lot of steam coming out at you, it's not the water temperature. If there is no steam, your dishwasher is not getting hot water and/or the heating coil is not working.
