Question about Sanyo DP32746 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Message says, "No signal."

I bought a Sanyo TV before digital broadcasting came in. I got Comcast Cable, but I would like to get away from the monthly charge, because I am on a fixed income. I bought a TV converter box and found out I needed an inside TV antenna to hook up to the converter box. I did all of this, and it still does not work.

HELP!! ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I did what Clark said, Antenna to Converter, converter to TV and put TV on channel 3; is that right? I now get a message that says, "No signal."

If you live far from any digital broadcasting stations, you may not be able to pick up signals using an antenna. In my area, it is impossible to receive digital signals from transmitters located just across the river!

What is the difference between HRC, IRC, Std and Auto when scanning channels - I hate the new digital TV world - it has total confused things - I have comcast cable

Usually standard broadcast is is the default setting, some other cable company use HRC and URC, these are ways to transmit or deliver their signal trough cable wire, ask comcast cable for their transmission type.

Product DMR-EH50, UNABLE TO DOWNLOAD TV GUIDE ON SCREEN SYSTEM.

I think I may have the "answer".

I am in Atlanta and have a Panasonic DVR that was working fine and sometime during the past month or so we lost the channel listings. I've tried many resets as well with negative results.

I called Comcast tonight. The agent helping me took a long time to research the issue and gave me this answer (which sounds reasonable). By the way, this is for the Atlanta area and may not be applicable to other areas of the country.

Due to delays in the conversion to broadcast digital and the fact that Comcast is experiencing bandwidth issues, they have digitized the "channel listing" signal. By mid-June Comcast's signal will be all digital and you won't be able to watch a TV connected directly to Comcast cable - regardless of whether it has digital or analog tuner (or both). This is contrary to what I'd heard before.

After mid-June, you'll either need to use a cable box OR what she called a "Digital Transmitter Adapter" (let's call it a DTA). Prior to being converted to "full" digital, you'll get notification from Comcast. She said I'd be able to get 2 DTAs at no charge (I currently have one Comcast HD DVR box). Additional DTAs would be $1.99 a month. DTAs will only provide access to the "basic" cable channels, but the good news is that the Panasonic DVR should be able to obtain its channel lineup through this DTA box.

Good Luck!

Sanyo DS31590 and converter box

I just checked the owners manual online. Looks like this model only has an NTSC analog tuner. No ATSC digital tuner built in.

If you use cable or satellite TV services, the digital converters won't help you. The coupon-eligible ones are strictly for use with a traditional antenna. If this is your situation, ignore the remainder of this message.

If you use a regular TV antenna with this TV, then, yes, you will need a converter box. FYI, the Insignia model at Best Buy and the Zenith at Circuit City, and elsewhere (radio shack) have gotten good reviews from early purchasers. More converter box models will be available in a few months time.

If your current reception with your antenna is poor (snowy), you may have problems receiving the new DTV signals. If not, you should be pleasantly surprised with the quality of the DTV signals - and the extra "virtual" channels. Try the converter box using the RCA video and audio inputs, for a slightly better picture than with the coaxial cable inputs.

Good Luck
