Question about GE Profile Arctica 25.4 Cubic Feet Side-By-Side Refrigerator With Dispenser PSS25MGMWW

Clicking noise with my GE GSS22WGP

I returned home from work to realize a clicking noise about 1 second apart and now water flowing through the ice dispensor. I changed out the water filter thinking the water filter was clog, and nothing. After further inspection and removing the rear plate covering the electronics board and compressor i experienced the clicking noise coming from one of the relays, and the compressor motor turning a bit at a time. I don't know if this is a electronics problem or a Compressor one. Which can i fix if any and or which has to be replaced. I hear the same clicking noise and now my entire unit has stopped cooling.  After the click, it sounds like a motor is trying to turn.  Kind of sounds like a dead car battery.  Any suggestions?

Your PTC relay is bad it protects the compressor from over heating and overloading. You need to replace it.

First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

It sounds like you have a bad icemaker. Usually when the arm is clicking its the gears that are stripped out. Feel in the icemaker if theres cubes frozen in there then you know the icemaker is definitely bad. With the arm in the up position it will not make cubes at all that is the off position for the icemaker. Hope this helps _MJ_

Clicking noise coming from back of refer. Push in water dispenser, noise stops, no water.... Ice maker is working but not really good.

Is it time to replace your water filter?
Check water supply line at the back of the refer for good pressure and flow.

Refrigerator not working.

I had a similar problem with my Maytag fridge. Turns out the ice melted around the switch (protected by a rubber cover) and got into the actual switch area, shorting out the circuit every time you push the switch to dispense ice..

Took it apart and removed the water and worked great.

Hope this helps.

I had that issue and a myriad of other issues with my GE side by side fridge. I replaced the control panel $100 and all three problems I had went away immediately.

1. Ice and water dispenser quit working
2. Howling noise 12 hours out of the day
3. Clicking noise

I had luck with a board with a clicking relay by replacing capacitors C29 and C30, which had bulged tops. Bravo, fridge works!

Clicking noise with my GE GSS22WGP

I am not sure if you mean the relay which is attatched to the side of the compressor or some sort of control relay. If you say relay to an engineer we normally assume you mean the one attatched to the compressor. If you are saying that the compressor tries to start but cannot then you probably have a compressor fault. The first thing to do would be to check the voltage going to the compressor and check that you have a steady correct voltage. If you are talking about a relay on a control board then I have not seen this particular unit but would suggest that you can check coil voltage on the relay on the pcb normally. I am sorry to be vague. Hope this is of some help.

Water/Ice machine controls acting up

the clicking noise is likely a relay that turns on the selected function. if you see some square shaped (about one inch by 1.5 inches tall) plastic parts on the top of the board, touch them while someone pushes a switch. if you can feel and hear the click, then this is normal. still do not know of your solution though.
