Question about GE Profile Arctica 25.4 Cubic Feet Side-By-Side Refrigerator With Dispenser PSS25MGMWW
I returned home from work to realize a clicking noise about 1 second apart and now water flowing through the ice dispensor. I changed out the water filter thinking the water filter was clog, and nothing. After further inspection and removing the rear plate covering the electronics board and compressor i experienced the clicking noise coming from one of the relays, and the compressor motor turning a bit at a time. I don't know if this is a electronics problem or a Compressor one. Which can i fix if any and or which has to be replaced. I hear the same clicking noise and now my entire unit has stopped cooling. After the click, it sounds like a motor is trying to turn. Kind of sounds like a dead car battery. Any suggestions?
Your PTC relay is bad it protects the compressor from over heating and overloading. You need to replace it.
First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken
