SOURCE: Passenger Door won't open from inside - not child safety lock

as leegallacher said its more than likely the interior door cable stretched or ends worn.

Testimonial: "That was the problem."

SOURCE: my back doors do not

It is probably due to bent rods that attach to the handle and run to the latching mechanism inside the door panel. If you remove the door panel with the window up you should be able to reach in and straighten the rods. This was a recurring problem on mine.

SOURCE: 1997 Geo Metro rear door won't open!

I have the same car, same problem. I've still not been able to fix it, despite taking the inside panels off the rear doors, checking the rods were seated, applying WD-40 to the lock mechanisms, and manually working the mechanism. Child locks are not engaged, but I tried putting them on and off too. Just won't open.

Hey, You need to remove the panel otherwise u can't reattach the metal sticks that move the locks, but i think it's hard to remove it in a closed posision when u don't brake it

A child safety lock switch hidden away on the trailing edge of the door can be engaged to prevent opening it, will be a little switch of sort itll move up or down. door will open from outside but not inside for child safety,

Where can I find the child safty door lock realease switch to be able to open the back doors from the inside?

The child safety door lock release switches are usually located on the inside of the door. The only way to unlock them is while the car is parked, and you have the door you are wanting to work on is open. While the door is open, look at the inside of it, kind of where the door fits to the car. You'll see a little black lever that you can "turn on and off." This is the child safety lock mechanism.

My back doors wont open

If your back doors won't open from the inside then the child proof locks maybe turned on. Open the door from the outside and look at the edge of the door near the lock for a small lever or screw setting for the child proof lock. Tun off the child proof lock and then you can open the back door from the inside.

Why wont the rear door open on my 2009 gmc acadia

from inside or outside ? if won't open from inside your child safety lock is probably tripped. if won't open from outside you probably have a lock rod that popped off inside the door, in which I would have the dealer fix it, it involves taking door pad off and when you can't open door to take pad off ,most of the time it damages it.

Back doors won't open from the inside

Open the door from the outside and while open look at latch mechanism on door.
There should be a small sliding or toggle lever and it only has two positions.
Flip it to the other position...and this should fix it.

This is a safety feature to keep children from opening the doors from the inside...

Hope this helps...

How to take child safety locks off on chevy malibu

Hi ,
Check your owners manual (first) the go to the door itself and look at the under side of the door and you will see a sticker guide to the operation of the safety locks . It's usually a slight turn (90*) on a simple mechanism within the door lock assy .It's always a good idea to lock the traffic side door with children on board. GOOD LUCK

1994 Ford Explorer, both back doors wont open. I think the child locks are locked on, but I can't open them from the outside either, I have the door skin off of one of them. Is there a pin or latch I can...

if you can open the door from the outside of the truck when you look at the backside of the door you should see a little opening for the child safety locks one way locks the door so it cant be opened from the inside the way other way unlocks the safety latch the door should be able to be opened from the inside and outside of the truck
