Magnavox 42MF130A/37, no picture

Unit turns on normally (power relays close). All votages off the PDC Board are normal for a few seconds. LED 8001, 8002 and 8003 all come on. A few seconds later, LED 8001 then 8002 goes out, power relays open and Red LED 8004 comes on steady.

can you be more spacific on the location of the 3 legged transistors mounted on heat sinks here is what you said in you fix a while back the tv is a 42mf130a/37 "I'm not sure about the specific problem solution, but I can point you in a good direction, look for 3 legged transistors mounted on heat sinks, they are usually called output IC's or driver ic's. There are 2 in particular that control x and y axis visuals and if they read 0,then they are shorted and need to be replaced. if they are near a metal coil, then ignore the above statement. also, try unplugging the LVDS cable,it's a cable with many tiny wires that goes from the small signal (scaler to other manufacturers) board to the display panel,if it lights, its either the logic board or SSB.

IF your not getting sound and its shutting down it could be a the main board, or the power supply (huge board in there.) I just got done parting one of these tvs that was in a vacation rental. the tv met with an unfortunate accident so the screen was cracked and so on. Anyhow if your intrested i have the main board and the power supply board for that exact model. I was listing them on ebay and saw this post. Listing here. I am going to probaly get about 25 buck a board (very cheap) plus shipping. IF your intrested let me know and I list that power supply board as well. I can't guarentee it will fix it but its worth the shot for 50 plus shipping. form my experience with mostly LCD tvs if your not getting sound odds are its the main board. I also listed what was refered to as the signal scaler (logic board)

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

Sharp LC37D44U Power LED was flashing green. TV would turn on, channel indicator shows in upper right corner, sound good, but screen would be black. Channel indicator disappears but screen is still...

I had the same problem. all the service reset would only make the display come on for a few second with no "k" on the screen - only the channel would show up. I purchased a complete set of board for the lcd on ebay, and started swapping them one by one. The inverter boards were the culpret. Tele working 100% since that board swap.

I have No Solution but I am so glad that I found this board saves me lots of trouble. I have the same model with the very same problem..I found this site about a class action suit against the company. If this is a True Statement, it appears that there is No Solution for this problem. Our set is a little over two years old. Lots of money for something that last no time.

It cound be a number of issues, I would venture that its one of 2 expensive units that are prone to failure. The main board (as its commonly called) should be a 715p1511 with a dash and most likely a 1a.

They are expensive to this day normaly around 100-160 depending on where you shop.

The second thing it could be exspecialy if you have not seen burning. is what refered to as a logic board or scaler board its behind the main board under the metal bracket that holds the main board. It is also in the 100- 160 range for it.

If your hearing the relays its most likely not the power supply falt due to there very robust in that system. If your going to put money in it i would go with the first two mentioned. and see.

Now with that being said. I have one of these same models 42mf130a/37 that was in a vacation rental unit. IT had an accident (no one omitted how it happeded) but the screen was busted like a baseball hit it (maybe someone was playing wii, who knows.) I have removed the boards to part out to recover some extra money to pay for the difference in cost of replacing it(insurance only covers depreachated value). I listed that main and logic board on ebay this evening but i doubt your still looking for the part.if so its the main board is here.

Problem, please help

The unit should be under warranty. What you're describing is not normal and I would attempt to get a replacement from the place of purchase or take the unit to an authorized repair center. Below is the Philips support page for your unit. You can check warranty status as well as request repair.
