Magnavox 42MF130A/37, no picture

Unit turns on normally (power relays close). All votages off the PDC Board are normal for a few seconds. LED 8001, 8002 and 8003 all come on. A few seconds later, LED 8001 then 8002 goes out, power relays open and Red LED 8004 comes on steady.

can you be more spacific on the location of the 3 legged transistors mounted on heat sinks here is what you said in you fix a while back the tv is a 42mf130a/37 "I'm not sure about the specific problem solution, but I can point you in a good direction, look for 3 legged transistors mounted on heat sinks, they are usually called output IC's or driver ic's. There are 2 in particular that control x and y axis visuals and if they read 0,then they are shorted and need to be replaced. if they are near a metal coil, then ignore the above statement. also, try unplugging the LVDS cable,it's a cable with many tiny wires that goes from the small signal (scaler to other manufacturers) board to the display panel,if it lights, its either the logic board or SSB.

IF your not getting sound and its shutting down it could be a the main board, or the power supply (huge board in there.) I just got done parting one of these tvs that was in a vacation rental. the tv met with an unfortunate accident so the screen was cracked and so on. Anyhow if your intrested i have the main board and the power supply board for that exact model. I was listing them on ebay and saw this post. Listing here. I am going to probaly get about 25 buck a board (very cheap) plus shipping. IF your intrested let me know and I list that power supply board as well. I can't guarentee it will fix it but its worth the shot for 50 plus shipping. form my experience with mostly LCD tvs if your not getting sound odds are its the main board. I also listed what was refered to as the signal scaler (logic board)

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

Sounds like a faulty outdoor controller board. If you are in Australia, call Prime Electronics or Statewide Appliances for spares.
Part number: NPCWA743383

• To make a diagnosis
1. Timer LED start to blink and the unit automatically stops the operation.
2. Press the CHECK button on the remote controller continuously for 5 seconds.
3. "- -" will be displayed on the remote controller display.
Note: Display only for "- -". (No transmitting signal, no
receiving sound and no Power LED blinking.)
4. Press the "TIMER" or button on the remote controller. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be displayed and signal will be transmitted to the main unit.
5. Every press of the button (up or down) will increase abnormality numbers and transmit abnormality code signal to the main unit.
6. When the latest abnormality code on the main unit and code transmitted from the remote controller are matched, power LED will light up for 30 seconds and a beep sound (continuously for 4 seconds) will be heard. If no codes are matched, power LED will light up for 0.5 seconds and no sound will be heard.
7. The breakdown diagnosis mode will be canceled by pressing the CHECK button continuously for 5 seconds or without any operation the remote control for 30 seconds.
8. The LED will be off if the unit is turned off or the RESET button on the main unit is pressed.

Or better yet, get a tech to check first.

Plasma screen does not come on and power supply board is bad

When the Plasma TV is plugged in, there're a fewindications of normal operation. Knowing this will help usunderstand what's going on with the unit when anabnormality occurs.1.There is a click from the relaysRL402andRL403when they are activated.2.The LED in the Optical Jack inside the DT board turns on for approx. 4seconds.3.Immediately after that, one of the Tuner LEDs (Right) turns on(Solid Red)for approximately 20 seconds.4.The LED in the Optical Jack inside the DT board turns on again for approx.1 second and both LEDs (tuner and optical jack) turn off.5.Then you will hear another click from the relaysRL402andRL403indicating that they are no-longer engaged. (Note: At this time the Tunerand the Optical Jack LED turn off.)5
