That is corrrect, the ambient temp in the garage is lower then the required 60 deg. for proper operation. nothing to be done till the spring, sorry. happened when the manufactures made"energy effiecent machines". the older ones would work just fine.not hte new ones !!!

the thermostat inthe refrig/freezer has to maintain a refrig temp of 38-42 deg(F). the garage temp has problably dropped below that so its tricked into shutting off premature.. the Full Freezer want to achieve a much colder temp to maintain frozen goods, so problably will not be affected.

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.

If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

Ice cream soft

Ice Cream is the hardest thing to freeze in a fridge /freezer unit , you need a least 0 deg F
to harden ice cream. If the ice cream was satisfactory before the repair and the stat is set to max. it is possible you have an over charger refrigeration circuit.

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer2_bing.gif and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Freezer doesn't keep ice cream frozen

not being able to keep ice cream is not good, before doing anything ck a few things. make sur e to pull out unit and vaccuum under and behind unit, if it cant breath it cant freeze. check in back by compressor, is the fan running to cool the fan??? if the compressor is on so should the fan be. next id look behind the freezer wall for excessive build up of frost( it might even be buildin up with ice throughthte back wall, inwhich case you have a defrost issue

Freezer not keeping things frozen

Ice cream requires a significantly lower freezing point than other foods. Keep it near the blowers or coils in most freezers and you'll be OK. Turn up the freezer a bit, and if it is all the way then move it away from the wall a bit more hope this helps!
