Mag Innovision monitors

By Phoebe - usenet poster

My local Costco Wholesale has two models of Mag Innovision 17" monitors they
are selling for $250. The price is certainly right but I am wondering about
the reliability and quality. The model numbers are DJ707 (.26) and 720V2
(.28). Anyone have any experience with these?

Garbage...stay away from Princton monitors too, as Mag is the parent
company...I have heard from several dealers in my area that Mag is a
bitch to deal when it comes to servicing their product. It's like any
line of monitors...you have bad ones and you have good ones but it is
my impression that Mag has a higher degree of quality control problems
with their monitors than do most other companies and to top it all of
their service is not up to snuff...overall I would't say that their
product is very appealing. Keep an eye on this thread because I
wouldn't be surprised to see it grow immensly with many other negative
user accounts...

I have had a DX1595 for a couple of years now and there are IMHO better
monitors out there for the price, although the prices are different here
in Canada. The controls are excellent, but the display is definitely of
lesser quality. From what i have seen in looking for 17" things havent
changed.

Mag makes a ton of overpriced JUNK. I used to buy the ole DX1595s
back when they were out I got pissed at how many monitors
I had to send back

I've got a DX15F which is about 3 or so years old. I have no
complaints whatsoever about the picture quality however one thing I
find annoying is that when it switches modes there is a noticable
blanking of the screen in between. Not anything that gets in the way
but it would be nice if it didn't.

I am another person who does not think highly of MAG monitors. We have
about 20 of them in my company and I've only seen about 2 of them that look
crisp and clear. The others are blurry, some of them are terrible. The
people that use them say they don't really notice it that much but it would
drive me nuts. I've owned one in the past and returned it to MAG, they gave
me another bad one. I sold that to someone and bought an Optiquest. It's a
much nicer picture for the money, in my opinion. Not perfect, but much
better.

I passed one on to my wife along with the old system ( PII 300, not so old
really ) and I think it's a terrible monitor. Blurry not crisp. ( using a
Matrox Millennium II AGP, what a shame ) The non-glare screen doesn't work very
well, except at night, hee hee. The screen sizing has a mind of it's own. But
hell, $250 that's pretty damn cheap. I'm using a Optiquest V773 now and I think
it's great. It goes for some where in the neighborhood of $350. I suggest you
scrape together another $100 and shoot for something else.
