I am assuming that you are talking about the overload button on the electric motor.
This is a safety device that takes the motor out of the circuit so it does not burn up when it is overloaded.
One thing to look for is either wrong voltage being supplied to the unit or the motor could be wired wrong.
Some motors are "Dual" voltage, meaning, they can work on 120v or 208-230 v.
If this is an old unit, the overload may have lost it's sensitivity. Meaning, it is too sensitivity. Trips out too early when it really does not need to.
There could also be a pressure switch that can cause other safety devices to trip. Take a good close look at how the safety devices are used in the circuit.

Good luck

Air compressor want build over 40LBS air!

It sounds to me like you have a bad pressure switch. When these go bad, it takes less pressure to close or open the contacts to shut the motor down. You can get a replacement from any Ace Hardware. It will come with basic install instructions. Just follow those and you should be fine.

I have run into the same problem. I lost the spring for the line feed. I contacted customer service listed on the manual. (What a joke!) After two weeks waitThey are only an importer of the Power Glide brand line and have NO PARTS other than replacement spools. I have now contacted Ace Hardware customer service and Jeannie there advised that this unit is discontinued by both Ace and the manufacturer.

The breaker in the motor keeps kicking on and off, is the reset

I'm assuming that you're pushing in the red button to reset it to restart the motor? Check to see what the air pressure is when the compressor shuts off. If it's higher that rated, then perhaps lowering the pressure will prevent the motor overload. If you have an amp meter, check the amp reading and compare it to the amp rating on the motor nameplate.

Is there a reset button on the Badger 5

Yes, on bottom a little recessed button should be pushed to reset the device. If the blade is stuck, the reset might not work but just keep tripping the breaker so you have to free up the blades with a broom stick or other item stuck into the disposal (with the power off of course) to turn the blades manually. Then try the reset button again. and hit the switch. Otherwise, check your kitchen's electrical breaker to see if it has tripped as well.

The blades on my Badger 1 insinkerator don't move. The motor hums when turned on. The reset button stays out when pushed.

You will need to free the blades by inserting the food disposal hex key or a 1/4 Allen Wrench into the very bottom of the disposal in the center. After inserting the wrench you need to turn it all the way in both directions to free what has the blades held up. It may be hard to turn but afterwards pull the debris out from inside the disposal. Hit the reset button and it will work. Do not keep turning it on until you free the blade and then reset.

My initial thought is the thermal protector reset has had it last reset. the question is why does it keep tripping? you may have other problems.

Unplug or turn the power off. make a wiring diagram of how the wires go where. tag them with masking tape if you have to.

Now remove the reset and take it to your local Hardware store. they should have a compariable replacement, if not maybe they can recommend a plumber who would have it.

Best of Luck!
