Question about Canon EOS-AE-1 35mm SLR Camera

1 Answer

Ok-- I would say it's fixed, but it's not

There is no "lever"... All there is, is the shutter release button (the button you press to take a photo) and a dial.. for changing the F.Stop. etc.

Ok, I'll break it down for you. Look down on top of the camera. On the right hand side, there is the shutter button. Just to the left of the shutter button is a small lever. It is between the shutter button and the camera...but it's part of the shutter button. Move the lever to turn it on and off.

I can help you with that camera too if you want. The on off switch is a small turn dial on the upper left side of the camera as your are looking at it. There are 4 positions for the dial. L is for Off. A is for on (automatic). The * (asterix) is for on but a beep will sound when your picture is in focus. And the [] (looks like a box) is also on, but with full automatic functions. Let me know if I helped you. If you have any questions, just leave them below and check comment.

It's near the shutter button where you press to take a photo. It slides each way. If it's broken and you need to have it serviced, this is the place for the Canon's: www.CamerasAndParts.com They are the best if you need a repair for one of the Canon models.

This analogue AL-1 Canon camera do not take a picture when pressing shutter release button. I guess it is because the button to the wheel located inderneath is stuck for some reason. Can I fix this myself...

From your video I can't tell whether the shutter is cocked. Can you crank the film advance lever all the way and then press the shutter release button?

Today, my Nikon d40 was showing an error message "press shutter button to release" and was taking very dark photos. Now, the error message is gone, but all photos are still very dark, even with...

Hi,1) Your camera has damage to the aperture control mechanism.
2) If you look in the viewfinder the image darkened, mayhave bent the aperture control lever.
In one must turn for service.
In two carefully can solve
You can also check whether the mechanism malfunctions diaphragm aperture setting to full and see that this does not close completely, pressing the shutter release button.
Best regards

FILM ADVANCE/SHUTTER STUCK

Start simple and go from there.

I don't know if you have film in the camera so I'll read the following and choose what works for you.

I will assume the battery is working if applicable.

As stupid as this sounds press the shutter release button. If the shutter is cocked it will hold the advance. I've had people come in with this problem.

Not it?

If the film rewind has been pressed in it will disengage the film advance and stop the shutter mechanism as a result. Open the camera and close the back again resets the release.

If there is film in the camera remove it.

It there are important photos on the film and your rewind is not working use a coat to make a light proof black box. Just turn the sleeves inside out and put the camera in the coat. Wrap it so as it is closed to light. Open the camera remove the film and roll the film back in by hand.

OK so now we have a camera open with no film in it.

Open the back and look just below the shutter. On one side will be a very small "lever". This tells the camera that the film has been advanced and the shutter is cocked. Gently move the lever to the right. It should click. Now try pressing the shutter release.
Note that without film in the camera some cameras will not advance the shutter.

It should clear the problem.

If not something physical in jamming.

The film advance system could be jamming. On the side the film advance is on there will be a plastic "gear" inside the camera. Try moving by hand it should turn. You can reset the shutter this way.

Give this a try.

Hope this is helpful, if it gives you some direction please rate this answer.

Thanks

Error code says press shutter release button again

I e-mailed nikon for this same problem. Their solution was to take out the memory card and press the shutter release button in the demo mode. To get to the demo mode you first need to go to custom menu/controls/no memory card?/press ok/ arrow down to enable release and press ok. Now you are ready to try solving this problem. Press the shutter release button to see if it will reset the shutter release button. I haven't tried it yet but it is worth a try.

Film advance lever.

Do you press the shutter button to release the lever for the next photo? That's how you advance the film from the exposure to light, when first insterting the film.

Take the lens off and continue pressing the shutter untill it doesn't react anymore, you should then have a normal menu without the error message.Put your lens on and you're all sorted.Cheaper and less hassle than sending it to Nikon.
